You know when you brush your teeth and the toothbrush slips and it scrapes your gums? Well, that happened to me last week on my upper gums and there is a cut where the inside of my lip meets my gums.

And it WON'T heal! Its driving me crazy! I looked at it in the bathroom mirror this morning and its seriously a HOLE in my lip/gum and its killing me! It hurts to talk, to eat, to drink, and don't even get me started on actually brushing my teeth!

:cursing::cursing::cursing:

Any suggestions on how I can get this to heal? I mean, its been almost a week now! Aren't mouths supposed to heal quickly?

it might not heal... I need a graft to repair part of my gums that I ... uhm... ripped off with my labret. It's been much longer than a week and it's still missing ^_^ it's not a hole like in the middle of my gums though.

Awww....Jenny I'm sorry! I don't have any tips for you though......Wonder if putting salt on it would help? Or like gargling with salt water?:confused:

rinse with salt water after every meal. No acidic foods/drinks. Try to avoid "rough" foods (crusty bread) - nothing that can get "caught" in the area.

Wanna know how I know this? lmao Xander put his tooth through his lower lip this weekend and these are the instructions we got from the doctor to help the lip area heal, and to avoid stuff wedging in the loose tooth area - nothing acidic/spicy, nothing starchy, nothing sticky. Poor boy is on a jello/soup/soft cheese/yogurt diet.

the idea of rinsing my mouth with salt water makes me wanna die from the pain. lol

But its worth a shot. Thanks for the tips, ladies! I'm about ready to put some baby orajel on it just to get it to stop hurting! :D

No advice... but my gums ache for you, Jenny... *cringe* talk of teeth and gums make me sick to my tummy... I loathe the dentist... sorry, Libby.

if you really need pain relief get some oragel PM because it isnt a gel and wears off alot slower. It forms a film over the gums and numbs it really good.

I know when my DS had some teeth extracted, they told us to put tea bags(ones that had been in hot water already, drained and cooled) on the area. Tea somehow helps the mouth tissue to heal.
