Opinions Wanted

So this weekend I was playing around with making my own paper. With budget constraints, it seemed like a logical thing to do. I want to start being able to create my own to use as I see fit, but I know I need practice, practice, practice. Now mind you, I only have PSE4 and I don't have one of those Bamboo tablets (just a mouse), so there are some constraints to my abilities.
However, I created this paper set (with only one element) and I would really like opinions and constructive criticism on it. I'm not trying to sell them, but rather I want to improve my abilities and designs. So will you provide me some input? The "preview" is located here:

I think you're off to a great start!!!

The only suggestion I would make is try other textures too. Even rotating a texture can make it look brand new.

Your car is adorable!!!
 
SOOO much better than my first attempts at paper!!! :) I've been making a few things too, since sometimes, well, I just can't find the perfect colour! I decided I liked scrapping much better than designing but yes, it is handy to know how to make a few things!

I love the little car element, it's adorable!!! I would totally buy something like that! One suggestion might be to vary the overlays (or grunging effects, I don't know what you've used) on each paper. From what I see each is identical in texture, and when I'm looking at paper to use for a project I like to mix up textures a bit.
 
well girl..i think that you really have a talent..and ME..i LOVE the multi colored flourishes one :) awesome work! I am so not the one to ask though..i don't do designs :) but i think you are well on your way! HAVE FUN! xoxo
 
It's funny that you don't like the flourished one, cuz that's my favorite, lol.

The car looks fantastic! I agree wtih Samara about adding different textures, or just rotating or flipping the one you had.
 
Yep, I am in total agreement with everyone about the textures...change is good and fun to!!! I too also love the multi-colored flourish paper, I think it is great!!!! Your car rocks too, you are def off to a great start, keep going and just have fun with it!!!!
 
Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! I will definitely keep in mind the advice about the textures - I see what you all are talking about there now that you've said it.
I'm glad you guys like the flourish paper and the car. I may jazz the papers up a bit next week (when I'm on vacation), incorporating your advice, and add a couple more elements and then offer it as a freebie off my blog.

Great job!!! I agree that maybe if you just rotate or flip the textures it could look at lot different. And even if you change the mode to overlay or soft light and play with the opacity you can get all kinds of different looks! :) Great job though!!!
 
I think you're off to a fantastic start! I agree with everyone else about varying the texture, maybe some different slight grunge effects, etc. I'd also suggest maybe a bit more randomness to some of the patterns. I think you've done some really great ones and it's def a good start. :thumbup:
