Online picture sharing - how do I do this?

This year Katie is in 5th grade. Her class all stayed together with their 4th grade teacher for 5th grade. I really want to make the class a nice yearbook that they can each print at the end of the year (Shutterfly). I started taking pictures today (1st day of school). I was thinking it would be nice to share the photos with the other parents in the class AND have them share with me so that I'll have enough pictures to fill a year long album. We're even going to donate an older digital camera to the class so the kids can take pictures whenever they want. (I'm sure there will be a lot of peace sign pictures - LOL!)

What is the best way to set-up a picture share with 18 other families and still keep it protected? If I share at a site like Shutterfly will they be able to download pictures and print at Walgreens? I want to find someplace that will give us flexibility, security and ease of use so that the whole class will be able to share.

Thanks in advance for your ideas and insights!

You can get a free account at www.fotki.com, but I'm not sure what their space limit is. You can download print quality photos that are uploaded and 4x6 prints are only 9 cents. Or for unlimited storage you only pay $30 a year (although there are sales through the year to get it cheaper). I've been a member for 6 years and love it!

I use myphotoalbum.com for my layouts, (mine is lukasmummy.myphotoalbum.com if you want to take a look) might be worth you checking out as you could set up an account in the name of the class and there are password options they have paid and free accounts, the paid accounts give you discounts on all prints as well.

Shutterfly is great for sharing -- I set up a baseball team site last year that was password protected and anyone of the parents could access and add photos. It is a great set-up -- there are different themes you can use and you can have a "banner" at the top with pictures that you select as sort of your "home page". BUT, no, they can't download and print themselves -- they'd have to order the photos from Shutterfly.

I absolutely love dropshots. I've more than paid for my account and my photos are back up online as well as the hard copies I have.

I have used the Shutterfly Share Sites for my sports teams and have been able to allow for the members to download.
If you select a picture(open it), you can hit the download button so that people can print wherever they want. You may have to set this up as an option for your share site. I also did not ad the members' contact info and let them add that as they felt comfortable. It was cool because i was able to add the weather at the sportspark and also the weatherline for our park so that parents could check on if it was rained out or not--thus eliminating a phone tree for that purpose.

The only thing I was not too happy about was that you cannot download an entire album. But, most people are only interested in their own kids' pics, so it is not a problem.

I second... err third... Shutterfly's sharing website. You can "lock it down" by invite only and if they want a copy, they can order right from link.
