One vs. two story house... Thoughts?

I appreciate all the input! I think no matter which way we decide to go, there's going to be pros and cons. Right now, I'm leaning towards the 2 story because I love the layout of the upstairs and it gets us a nice sized gameroom. The one story has an area that we would use as a gameroom, but not as big and not as far removed from the living room.

To build in the neighborhood we want, we have to participate in a lottery... I've never heard of such a thing! There are going to be 62 lots available in the next phase of building, and right now there are around 200 people on the list that are interested. Having said that, you don't have to put any money down to get on the list, so I know not everyone will show up for the drawing. This is all happening at the end of October, I will be on pins and needles not knowing until it happens!

Jill, what part of TX do you live in? We are in Houston and I have never heard of that type of lottery system here.

I know when the housing market was super hot out in Cali that the lottery system was in place. (at least in Sacramento) A good friend got her house that way. Good luck!! I hope it works out for you guys!

What's the builder? My husband works for quite a few builders around the country. Just curious if maybe he helped draw the plan :)

I am in Clear Lake!

Small world! The neighborhood we're wanting to build in is Sedona, on the west side of 45 (behind the Cracker Barrel after you pass FM 518). There are only 3 neighborhoods that feed into my kids' elementary school, so our options are very limited.
