I got the nikon 50mm f1.8 today and I am IN LOVE! Here are some pictures from today:

Seriously, if you're looking for a nice lens for your nikon, this one it really really sharp. It takes better pictures than the lens that came with my kit(18-70mm). Its just super! It doesn't zoom, but you give that up for the sharpness and quality. Its totally worth it!!!! Yeah!
 
wow. those are amazing, emily!! was it pretty inexpensive? where'd you get it? i 'think' i was looking at the tamaron version of this.
 
yup the 50mm is my fave lens too :) I love it!

um..I must have those shoes your dd is wearing...what are they? Robeez?
 
Lizzy, it wasn't that expensive. It was about $120, which is cheap for a nikon lens. But it has fantastic reveiws and it is the best buy for your money compared to any of the other nikon lenses. This guy writes up awesome reviews on camera equipment:

eta-I got the lens at ritz camera. I went to my local store. They're so helpful and really sealed the deal on picking this lens over the more expensive one.

i love that lens more than life itself. well no, not really, but u know what i mean. mind u, i do sometimes get annoyed with myself as im completely prone to shoot everything at F1.8 JUST COS I CAN! lol love playing with depth of field
 
Awesome!!! That is the lens I have been eyeing for myself for months (and maybe if I'd quit buying so damn many scrap kits I could afford it lol).
 
After I bought my 55-200 mm, I told my DH I wouldn't ever need any more lenses. But now you've got me tempted! I'll have to start saving now. ;)
 
Lani, I almost exclusively shoot on f/1.8 with mine! LOL! I LOVE shallow depth of field. It's an addiction.

Fizz, myself and about 8948432 others recommended this lens to you in your thread a week or 2 ago :p

Welcome to the 50mm club Emily! I have mine on my camera 97% of the time! LOL!
