It is so frustrating to hear my DH try to explain something computerish over the phone to my ILs. How hard is it to find out what version of IE you are using? Very I guess.

Clearly, you've never met my mother. :p

Sometimes people just don't GET it, you know? I was dealing wtih replacing my cell phone, and the guy was like ok....do this....and find a small white square blah blah. Before he was even close to finishing his sentence I was like it's still white. He was SHOCKED I had found it on it my own, apparently, these things are very difficult, lol.

He is missing his menu bar so he can find what the version is. We told him to right click anywhere that it's blank so that he could put up the menu bar...he couldn't do that. LOL What's so hard about "right click on any blank space"??

Hahahahahaha, I'm just bustin your chops :p

Although to be honest, I don't understand the problem as you're explaining it, LOL!

In his IE, he is missing the bar that says "File, Edit, Tools, Help" etc. We wanted him to go to Help to find out what version of IE he was using (turns out Vista comes with IE7 so that was one problem we didn't need to fix). But in order to get the Menu Bar back up, he need to click on an empty space to bring up the right pop-up.

It's hard to explain because I don't use IE, I use FF. The page he was needing to go to only works in IE5.5 or higher...in FF it says that it can't show the page because it's the wrong browser. LOL Very weird.

When I was in college, our first media class this one lady was at the computer. She wanted to build up her portfolio so she could get into graphic design school. She didn't even know how to get to the START button in windows.. and yet she wanted to be in graphic design.. yea

I have to leave the room when my DH is trying. I love my MIL - but its just painful to listen to him try to help her do the similest thing.

I know your pain!!! That's like trying to explain anything to my mom on the computer (or anything else for that matter). Some people just don't "get" it at all...

I know your pain. A few years ago for Christmas Dave built his mom a computer in college and after we gave it to her she would call us over EVERYTHING!!!! And I mean everything, and most of the time when he didn't answer his phone she called mine. Talk about frustrating!

That is too funny Kristin!

When we go down & visit my folks over the holidays it' "Free Computer Help Week" for them & their friends. Between DH & I we can solve most software, hardware & network issues with home computers. But walking them through things is misery. "Right click on the screen" I say. "You want me to go to the right and click? Click what? What am I clicking with?" Just makes you want to bang you head on something
