Are you watching? Do you have any events you're typically drawn to

Usually I'm all about the winter olympics but this year I don't even really know the athletes that are competing. I usually will watch all things figure skating. I don't know what's changed, maybe that I'm not as familiar with the athletes .

ps. CANADA what are you wearing. Does it make me a bad Canadian if I say their outfit for the olympics is really bad :o I miss when roots used to be the designer.

Yesssss I'm watching!! Saw the opening last night...that was amazing
And I watch all things ice skating (go Dutchies) except for ice hockey hahaha

But we did watch some skiing today as well...

We love watching the Olympics around here! It's so much fun to watch sports you wouldn't typically watch! Today we have watched Curling, Luge, ski jumping, a little snowboarding.

Oh, gosh. I must be under a BIG rock. I had NO IDEA the Olympics were in progress. :o I'm not sure if I have access to them live or not. I'll have to see. I'm glad you mentioned it! :D

I am the same with figure skating. It doesn't hold the same connection as it once did.

And as a Canadian, I have no idea who decided this. I finally figured out the coat thing in the opening ceremonies was to be a maple leaf, but you only really got that when viewed at a certain angle.

I usually watch online so I try to catch every final (by doing the replays so I can skip any lengthy delays etc. And that is usually in the background as I scrapbook, or crochet

Yes- of course we're watching hockey- I'm especially following the USA Women's team. We tend to watch a lot of the other events too. I just love that our vice was boo'd at opening ceremonies. I thank the world for that! ;) ;)

I don't think Canada's opening ceremony outfits were bad- just interesting interpretation of the leaf! The USA's sweaters & hats were cute but the jacket was not my favorite.

I usually watch snippets/clips on YouTube rather than watching live. I do love figure skating. I watched a video of synchronized figure skating today. I didn't even know it was a thing!

I loveeeee figure skating, unfortunaaly it's not on the television
here where I live...it't behind a paid "wall" which is very expensive

I've not watched any yet. I need to check out the viewing options on the BBC, they usually have pretty good coverage of different events both live and catch up with highlights available separately. Figure skating is an obvious one. I didn't know synchronised was a thing either, that sounds like a good watch. For some reason I like curling. The luge is also terrifyingly compulsive.

I will look to see what other things there are. I know in the summer games that I was entralled by the skateboarding, bmx freestyle and climbing as well as my usual watch of the gymnastics.

Nah, I'm not a sports watcher at all.

Hubby watches skateboarding in the summer Olympics because he is a skater.

I love watching! I watch whatever I can find on. So far I have been watching snowboarding big air and ice skating and a tiny amount of speed skating.

I love the bobsledding, luge, and curling... but I'll watch pretty much everything except ice skating... I think I over did it in the past.

lol - Canada's coats in the opening events... they sure were big!

I am a huge fan of the Olympics! I am watching them on Peacock, because if I miss something they have replays. That being said, I have to really watch what I see on Facebook or the news because I don't want to know what's happened before I watch it!

Tessa Janecke, on the women's hockey team grew up about 3 miles from where we live. Her family still lives in the area. Pretty cool considering we are in a pretty rural area in Illinois.

I had no idea what team skating was so I watched it on Peacock yesterday while I cross stitched.

I'm not a huge fan of them anymore so don't devote a lot of time to watching. Especially with the time zone differences. At least with Peacock I can watch what I want and not what the network thinks I need to see so I might watch more this year. Probably more ice skating, short track speed skating, and bobsled. Need to figure out when they compete.

yes, I'm excited! the uniforms this year was interesting for me. speed skating, diving, curling, basketball, snowboarding to name a few.

I'm watching as well. Some of these sports are only on television during the olympics and I love getting more familiar with less-known sports to me.

We love watching the Olympics too, Eurosport is on on the most part of the day, so we see a lot of sports, But ice skating is a must see since we are most strong in that part. But I love snowboarding and figure skating too...

The openings show was amazing too, firstly I didn't;t recognized Mariah Carey lol I thought she was someone else...

It's really interesting watching some of these events and hearing how hard it is for some of the athletes to get to the olympics. from the amount of jobs they have to work to pay for training and travel. It's just hard to see how some get so much funding while others have none depending on where you live.

I havent been watching, but did you see the TayTay intro for the US ladies figure skaters yesterday?

I was watching the final run for the 2-man bobsled today and they were commenting about the Romanian team. They don't have the money behind them that many of the other countries do and how well they were doing today. They ended up in 5th with the perennial powerhouse teams from Germany sweeping the medals. USA's only 2-man team ended up in 4th.

Wow!! It is really impressive what those athletes can accomplish! It's really inspiring.

I have cousins who were in synchro skating when I was a teenager and they went to the nationals in canada. They should bring it to the olympics and take away the team skating and replace it with synchro, i think it would make more sense.

I love watching the Olympics! my favorites are figure skating, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping and curling. I didn't recognize many of the athletes this time either, but I really enjoyed them, specially the figure skating.
