Oklahoma girls...check in!

Darcy Baldwin

Just a Scrapper
We've been prepping tonight and getting ready for our own tornadoes..and saw one hit in north OKC. Everyone check in!

Twisters hit in El Reno (about 30 miles W of OKC), the north side of town, and the south side. Thankfully our mobile home is in an area between these three spots.

We prepped our storm shelter tonight, but so far we've been lucky with only high winds and lots of rain. Thankfully, the tornadoes have been south of us. Stay safe!!

I am safe and sound. Thanks for checking in! I am SO tired though. All that stress and adrenaline can really take it out of a girl! Now I am focusing on praying for my Kansas and Missouri peeps! This has been a crazy weather season. I don't like it one bit.

Darcy, you be safe too!

Glad you guys are safe. Pulled the boys out of the bathtub and now settling them into bed with a movie knowing neither is going to get to sleep anytime soon with adrenaline pumping.

Hoping everyone else stays safe!

Has there ever been an SSD meet-up for our area? That'd be awesome! :) No pike pass for us yet...we haven't been able to do much exploring with the little ones- someday!

I don't think so. Nikki Epperson is near you. I think we should figure something out! :) I will gladly drive to Tulsa area. I go there a lot so I know my way around pretty well. :)

That would be fun! Gotta love the Pikepass, although I can't say that I know my way around well...I always found Tulsa kind of hard to navigate. But LOL that's what GPS is for :D

Oh oh oh! I wanna GO!!! OKC and Tulsa are both just a couple hours from here. :)

Teresa, I had no idea you lived so close! Tulsa is where I usually go to meet my ex to drop off/pick up my daughter. :)

I'm jealous! Wish I could get together with you girls!! I'm an Okie originally - I grew up in El Reno and lived there the first 25 yrs of my life!! I still have some family there.

Unfortunately, several very good friends of mine and my cousin all lost their homes - completely destroyed today. All of my loved ones are alive and accounted for, but have absolutely nothing left. It is so sad. I know there are many more out there in this situation and worse. My cousin, who lives just outside of El Reno near Calumet (my Uncle owns Calumet Industries if you've heard that mentioned on the news, it was destroyed), runs a large horse rescue operation where they rescue abused / neglected horses and her entire property was destroyed - home, barns, stables, everything. They currently had 21 horses and lost all but 3 of them. She is just devastated.

And one of my oldest and closest friends, Rachel - her parents (Tom and Carla Chronister - they have been interviewed by several local and national news stations today) also lost everything. Their house was also completely destroyed - nothing was left but the foundation slab is my understanding.

Several people in the El Reno area were killed and I think there were about 60+ injuries. Nothing like the Joplin area, but for such a small, close-knit community like El Reno, this is devastating.

I feel very helpless right now being 3000 miles away! But I have to say that being away from all that weather drama for so many years - I definitely do NOT miss it!!

I thought about you when they were showing the El Reno damage. I'm so sad to hear about the horse rescue being destroyed, but I'm glad that you family came through it all safely.

There have been several deaths in that area, and I'm praying that the count doesn't rise. Right now they are still looking for a missing 3 year old whose mom and siblings were taken to the hospital. The footage is just depressing all around...it could be worse, but it sure could be better too.

Jenn I'm so sorry about your friends and family. I'm glad everyone's okay, I've been wondering how everyone's been fairing.

How devastating, Jen. My heart goes out to your family and friends. :(

If you OK girls do a meet-up be sure to let me know! That area is definitely doable for me since I'm just 30 minutes from Alva at my house. :)

I think we should have a KS/OK gals meet up in Tulsa! :) That seems to be within a couple of hours of everyone and a good central spot. I would love to meet some of you in real life! Stacey and I are less than 30 minutes apart and we still haven't met! Craziness. After we pray each other through all these crazy storms, I say we plan it!

Jen....you are right. El Reno is such a small tight knit community. This is devastating. Sorry you are so far away but you know how us Oklahomans are......we have been through many tragedies and we always surround each other with love, support and prayer. I am sure all your friends and family are getting the help they need. ((HUGS))

We'd be more than happy for some north TX girls to show up too :D And Tara, we NEED to do that...Yukon and Norman aren't that far. Maybe we can meet up at the zoo one day...I'm sure Rachel would be tickled to meet a new friend :D

One of my ct gals spent a good chunk of yesterday evening in their shelter. :( Thankfully, they're totally ok. This weather is sooo scary this year!
