Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
Pj's, Candy, I think we usually do a new DVD too.

Do you use the same ones every year?
Yes, Sean's grandma knits them for everyone in their family. She had 7 children, so they all have one, plus their kids, their spouses and her great grand kids. I bet she's done around 50.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
No, because I like to see how they like their stocking goodies too! It's one of my favorite parts

I still have to get more candy and pj's, I usually do that black friday, target always has good deals on pj's. And I need to get Keira a book, and maybe one or 2 more things for Harper's stocking. I always get too much for their stockings, I'm hoping since I just took inventory, I'll do better this year! LOL!

What are going in your stockings? I only have Cheyanne's to do now so it's pretty easy - always heads for her electric tooth brush (special ones for her braces), deodorant, hair products, about 1 million bobby pins, little hand sanitizers from B&BW to keep in her gym bag for sports, small lotions from B&BW, a pomegranate, hair bands for sports, basketball socks, and Ferro Rocher for a treat.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? See above.

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes, she's had the same stocking since she was a baby that my mother made for her.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? Umm with a 14-year-old I'm the one waiting for HER to get up :D

What are going in your stockings? I haven't a clue.... I try to keep all 3 as evenly balanced as possible, while making them personal to their likes also.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? There are some things, like new toothbrush, toothpaste, gloves, lifesaver storybook that need to be in them every year.

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes we use the same stockings every year.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? This was the rule when I was a kid, that my brothers and I could have our stockings before they woke up. This was good because my oldest brother (9 years older than me) used to love waking me up super early (around 5am) and we'd go through our stockings, sort them all out, sometimes do candy trades, pack them back up and then do it all over again. LOL Then we'd watch the early mornings Christmas Cartoons that didn't normally air any other time (usually Fat Albert Christmas). Most of my fondest childhood memories are those early mornings of bonding time between just me and my brothers with our stockings, so this was something I continued on with my children, and hopefully they will get out of it what I did when they look back. :)

What are going in your stockings?
Hmm... I'm not sure... I collect trinkets throughout the year for J... I always have the hardest time with DH... he usually ends up with some cooky tech thing I find like a UBS stick that looks like bacon... haha

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
Oranges and toothbrushes...

Do you use the same ones every year?
I have been on the search of stocking that I just love for the last 10 years... still haven't found ones. So, I have two sets... one set is red/green for when I decorate the tree with a country christmas theme or the other set are brown for when I decorate the tree with purple/white/copper...

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
No - J has to wait for us... even with Santa's gift... he can look at it, but to play with it - he has to wait for us to come... and he will have to reenact his surprise for photos... haha

What are going in your stockings? some random little things that we pick up.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? we put each child's favorite candy, peppermint sticks, and oranges in every year.

Do you use the same ones every year? yup!

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? no.

What are going in your stockings?
No idea. I usually just hit Target and pick up a handful of stuff and call it done. Stockings are just NBD to me.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
Each child gets a Christmas ornament each year that I put in their stockings.

Do you use the same ones every year?
Yup. I need to get one for the baby!

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
It would never occur to DD to go downstairs and look at them without waking me up first. Maybe when she's older...

What are going in your stockings? Ummm...depends on what I find...lol

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?

For the kids: DVD, toothbrush/toothpaste, chap stick, those little Life Savers "books"
For the hubby: deodorant, razors, "man soap"

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes, we all have stockings from Pottery Barn

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
No, we all have to be up to get them.

What are going in your stockings?
Not sure yet, but there are a few things that go in every year (see below)

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
New toothbrush, a new movie or xbox game

Do you use the same ones every year?
For the last 3 years, we have. I want to replace them though.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
I'm always the first one up because I get up to prepare breakfast. Plus, I can't sleep in on Christmas. Impossible for me. lol

What is going in your stockings? We don't really do stockings for me and the hubbs... the kids are getting pokemon cards, a new toothbrush, the boys are getting skylanders, they're all getting a new camelbak cup and candy.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? a chocolate orange for the toe and a toothbrush. Santa and the easter bunny both bring new toothbrushes every year

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes! My mom crosstitched some amazing ones that all match and I could never use anything else!

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? no. they have to wait for us to wake up before they can come downstairs. We wake up early that day already and I'm SO not a morning person. They're lucky I'm not making them wait until 9 to get up!

What are going in your stockings?
It varies

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
An apple, an orange and a candy cane

Do you use the same ones every year?
yes

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
The stockings are usually the last thing we get into!

What are going in your stockings? No idea yet.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? No.

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes, we all have stockings that I needlepointed years ago. Too much work went into them to not use them!

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? No!

What are going in your stockings? I decided to do experiences this year so hockey tickets, movie tickets and lift tickets.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? I was always putting in toothbrushes and underwear, but he didn't need any a couple of years and have been lax since then.

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes, my mom made him an awesome one, but it ended up being much smaller than we thought so I bought a cheap, plain red one and use that. lol

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? I work Christmas, so I wake him so he can look before I go to work. We were always allowed as kids to look at the stockings before our parents woke though

What are going in your stockings?

No idea. I haven't gotten that far yet. Probably some American Girl accessories for Caitrin and a little Lego kit for Declan. I usually have stocking stuffers already done long before now but this year I have had so many health issues and so little energy that it just wasn't on my radar. I do have a few little things, but not enough to fill a stocking.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?

Nah. We have enough crazy traditions without it spilling over to the stockings.

Do you use the same ones every year?

Mostly. We used the same ones every year from our first Christmas together ('94) through two years ago. Then I found some cute matching stockings at Walgreens for 50 cents each a few days before Christmas and we switched over to those and have used those for two years. I really want a nice set of personalized ones but I'm too cheap to spend $35 on a stocking. We have a million stockings in this house though. My step-MIL sends homemade ones pretty much every year. The last few years she's done homemade mittens with treats inside instead of stockings. We spent one Christmas with them and she made ones for us with our names embroidered on them. I decorate with the ones we don't use for the tree.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?

My kids will never wake up before their father on Christmas Day. Not a chance. He can't sleep on Christmas Eve. He is worse than the kids. He wakes us up at the crack of dawn and drags us downstairs. I have no problems sleeping in Christmas Eve. However, I get where he's coming from because I never sleep the night before school starts. LOL Anyway, nope, we put a gate up and the kids aren't allowed past it until we are up and moving around, so no middle of the night trips in to look at the tree. They can get to the bathroom without going past the gate, so all is well. They also know we have a motion detector on our alarm system and they think we can tell exactly what sized person tripped the alarm. LOL

As a kid we had different stockings pretty much every year. I don't know what happened to all of them over the years. There was always an orange in the foot but that was about the end of the traditions to them. One year, and only one year, the stockings were in our rooms when we woke up on Christmas morning. They were at the foot of our beds. We had no idea what to do with them so we went in to the living room to open them. We were raised by my grandma. She slept in the living room, on the couch, my whole life (she had a room and a bed...) so of course she was in there when we went in with our stockings. She sat up and watched us open them.

It's small stuff. She gets the normal socks, makeup stuff, fun office supplies (I know, right?), maybe a gift card or two. He gets iTunes, maybe a game, gum, socks. I still try to make them about even. Because I hate for mine to be completely empty, I'll put nail polish or something for me in it. Our pets also have stockings. The dog gets treats and the cats get catnip.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
Normally, iTunes gift cards for both, makeup and nail polish for my daughter, gum for my son.

Do you use the same ones every year?
They both have these ENORMOUS hand knitted ones they received for their first Christmas and still use them 20+ years later. I still have mine from when I was a baby and still use that one.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
Adult kids at my house. I hang them on a stocking tree when we start decorating and then add to them as I get stuff. Because they are so big, they get heavy so I don't add anything heavy until that morning. I had to be careful when our cousins were small, didn't want them to wonder why their stockings had stuff in them when they came over Xmas Eve.

What are going in your stockings? I have no idea...

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? DVD Xbox Game, Gift Card

Do you use the same ones every year? Yes...but I have new ones I'm going to use this year (that I didn't use last year)

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? Usually the stockings are the last thing we look at in our house...my son mail goal is to open the presents under the tree

What are going in your stockings?
I love stocking shopping! It's my favorite part of Christmas shopping. I buy for my husband, my daughter Katie (15), my daughter Hannah (12), my MIL and my FIL. I haven't started shopping for stockingsyet, but some must have for this year will be:

Husband
Super glue
PayDay candy bar
black and khaki work socks
Some kind of BBQ rub

Katie (15)
Nail polish - dark colors (Maroon, navy, dark grey)
ear buds
lip gloss
monogrammed headbands
work out headbands
face mask cream
Gel pens
A few new makeup brushes
Nail tatoos

Hannah (12)
Pistachios
Lip Gloss
Hand Sanitizer
Colored pencils
My One Line a Day Journal

MIL
Garden Gloves
Nice hand cream
Perfume
Magazine subscription (copy of mag with sub card attached)
lottery scratch-off tickets

FIL
Long matches (Duraflame brand Target/Publix)
Reader's Digest subscription (I do a mag with a card saying we got him a subscription)
Some kind of flashlight
A pair of tongs
Hot sauce or some kind exotic bbq sauce

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? Candy, my husband's family only put candy and maybe a yo-yo in their stockings each year. So I always make sure each person gets some of their favorite candy in their stocking. My husband always gets a tube of Superglue. He's not allowed to use it unsupervised (the man has glued his eye shut twice) but it's a tradition to get him some for Christmas. My kids usually get me my favorite mascara and some eye liner as well as other cosmetics for my stocking.

Do you use the same ones every year? I hang the same ones every year, because they are ones I ordered 10 years ago with our names on them. But they are so skinny that they really don't hold very much. So we have another set of stockings that I actually put our gifts in. I know, it's weird.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?[/B]
We usually open stockings first, but we all have to be up and downstairs. Plus now that I have older kids they have at least some patience and we have an agreed upon wake-up time (even though I usually wake up earlier because I'm so excited).

You guys are so organized! I've barely thought of stockings. Usual I forget about them until a few days before Christmas then u hit a dollar store in the mad rush.

The one thing I remember from my childhood always being there was a chocolate letter, always our first initial. I just bought my kids those tonight for the first time. Thought it would be fun to carry that one on.

As for opening them up we always do it as a family when we are all up. I'm the one usually up early. I love Christmas!!

What are going in your stockings? Not sure exactly yet. So far, I've only puchased guitar picks and socks for dd(16). Chloe will probably get some stickers and maybe some bath crayons. For us, stockings are cheapie things, so it's never "real" gifts that go in there. It's things like toiletries, candy, and maybe a fun little something (lip gloss, fun pens, etc)

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there? Everyone always gets a toothbrush. Hubby always gets 2 bags of his favorite gummies.

Do you use the same ones every year? For the most part, yes. We bought a set when we got married a few years ago. Honestly, I don't like them very much, and they really don't hold a lot of sentimental value. I'd be open to getting new ones.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up? Not a chance! We do stockings as a family. Stockings are the one thing that we can all open at the same time. When it comes time to open real gifts, we take turns so that we can watch everyone and make it last longer. With stockings though, all bets are off. We usually do them before we open real gifts, so it's a nice warm up to the bigger stuff. LOL

What are going in your stockings?
Each of us will get our favorite candy- ME: cordial cherries, soft chewing strawberry licorice DH: andes mints, whoppers BEN: nerds, jelly belly GRACE: candy canes, gummy bears. Then other random little toys (tiny dolls, cars, small lego sets, playmobil mystery packs), collectibles, small games, etc. I try to keep the items generally low in cost. We also add 'practical' stuff made fun... like special soap, a fancy toothbrush, hair accessories, small Bath & Body Works body splash or antibacterial.

If DH fills my stocking I will hint at bath products like those from LUSH, new pens, fuzzy socks, etc. I fill his stocking with small bottles of liquor, a couple cigars, socks, some new boxers, his favorite markers, a new wallet, etc.

Is there something you put in them every year that has to be there?
ALWAYS an orange in the toe.

Do you use the same ones every year?
Yes. They are the cheapest red fuzzy stocking with our names written on the white fur cuff in silver glitter. Just like I grew up with. Although, in the near future (maybe this year?) I want to make handmade stockings for us.

Do you let the kids have them before you wake up?
We've never had this discussion because they are rarely up before us. I am up by 6 am on Christmas Day! Still a child at heart. :D
