I got promoted with no pay increase.

OK, it's not as bad as it really is. I'll get a pay increase in 6 months' time, but it's not retro.

I think I'm gonna eat like a dozen Krispy Kremes to make me happy. :p

I'm a teacher and we just signed a contract that said no pay increase for 2 years. Me = Not happy. However, better than the pay cut they wanted us to take, and we do get 2 extra days off.

Know how that goes all too well. DH: 2 Manager roles (one was added after cut backs when they eliminated another Manager) = same salary as always.....for over a year.

But at least he has a job right? :cursing:

How about some Starbucks to go with those donuts? We will just have a nice morning coffee and donut visit......

Donuts. Brilliant idea. So sorry about the pay. :( I'm pretty sure donuts would make it all better for me, though! :)

Jamie, you totally read my mind. LOL

I'm still happy I get to keep my job (but at this point, it's better sense for the company to keep me than my colleagues anyway: their productivity is lower but they're paid at least twice as much as I am). But ya know, it sucks to see my office email piled up with work queues.

Oh well. I'm still starting out in my career. When I finish a couple more projects, I'll be ready for bigger things, and hopefully the economy's in much better shape then so I can command the pay that I deserve. :D

Thanks girlies! I knew I could count on you to make me feel better! Have some more donuts! :p

That's hard Jill...because along with the promotion, I'm sure it means a lot more work. You'll be getting a lot of work experience there though, so if they don't want to pay you more later, at least it will look really good on a resume!

and YUM on the Krispy Kreme! Ours shut down here, and when I'm really really stressed, the thought of putting one of those babies in my mouth sounds soooo good! They just melt!! I certainly don't need them though...so you go ahead and eat them for me!

We don't have 'em here in Singapore, either, Debra. A couple of kind souls in our Manila office (aren't they darlings for doing this?? Seriously, I love our Manila colleagues, they're the awesomest people!) bought 3 dozens of them for me coz I said I've never tasted 'em. They're heavenly! But I only got to eat 2 coz the staff in our office here had a field day with the donuts. LOL

Bummer, Jill! A promotion's nice, but there's nothing better than some extra $$ to go with the pat on the back. ;) Maybe you'll get a bonus at Christmas?

My husband seems to be right there with you! We're thankful he has a job, but he works hard for his promotions and it's kind of like a slap in the face when they come but the money doesn't come with it! Hopefully the economy will pick up and you'll get an even better raise.. that you don't have to wait 6 months for!

How is that a promotion? More work and responsibility with no pay raise? We'd go on strike for that. LOL - but if donuts work, I say go for it.

dude..I can TOTALLY relate to that!!! I got promoted, in the Navy, to E-6 and get the extra resposibility but don't get paid for 6 months after the fact!!!! I got promoted May 30th and probably won't get paid until Dec 16th! But luckily it's about a $500 raise!!!!

LOL Kiki if we had a union, I'd go on strike, but unions are for rank and file and I got promoted to managerial (with a contract staff's pay. I swear, multinationals are really trying to stiff their workers)

Angie, congrats!! A $500 raise is always a good thing! :D

Jill, my sister says you need to go to KL to get Krispy Kreme. Sorry about the "promotion." I know how disappointing that can be.
