Yesterday, I picked up a section of the Sunday paper that I'd not yet read. On the second page there was a short blurb of an article that said, Verona man, 41, drowns in Lake Michigan. So I kept reading. And I recognized the name. My breath caught a bit at first but then I convinced myself that it was just another guy with that name. I mean, it could be common in his culture. Oh--I don't actually know the guy with this name. He's just the guy who lived in my house before me, so I get a LOT of his mail--even four years later.
Anyway, the doorbell just rang. And there was a woman with flowers. And I said, "Oh crap." And she said, "Uh, does XXX YYYYY live here?" And I said, "Oh, crap." again. It turns out--it was him. And I feel awful because I have no idea how this lady can find his family to deliver these flowers.
Is it weird that I'm now totally shaken and ready to bawl because of this? I mean, I really did not know this man, or his family. And yet, I've been getting his mail for four years. And I know that both he and his wife are doctors. And I know they have at least one son, who's around JP's age. We found a picture in the laundry room when we moved in.
Someone tell me I'm being ridiculous here...
