It's crazy! I live in Nor Cal and I remember last weekend on the news that they were dispatching NorCal firefighters down there...as a precaution. I remember it b/c I thought it was too bad to send these firefighters away from home right before thanksgiving..and I think they are serving 2 week stints I believe even more firefighters got dispatched down there today.

it IS crazy.. and fricken scary.. 2 weeks is a long long time.. Those poor firefighters must be exhausted.

Hopefully they get them fully contained soon! My DH was down there just before Halloween for 10 days. He was EXHAUSTED when he got home. Thankfully he had 4 days to recover before having to go back to his regular shifts...

I was pretty upset when I heard that 6 firefighters had been injured as of this morning. I just don't understand why people have to start these fires and put hundreds, if not thousands, of people's lives in danger. It just makes me so mad!!! :cursing:

Yup, the Santa Ana winds were back again this week so of course more fires kicked up (I live in Orange County). It's horrible, because there's almost nothing they can do - we're in the middle of the driest year on record, so it was almost inevitable. Really awful.

I'm in Nothern Colorado and there was a story on the news this weekend saying how the smoke from the fires is turning our skies all the way out here a hazy color like pollution. Its crazy that its coming all this way, but I shouldn't be surprised. When Mt. St. Helen erupted, we got ash in Colorado.
So sad for all those people who have lost their homes and are misplaced. What a scary time.
