Nope, that's not a mistake... I'm posting our book for October in March.
Much like The Astral Library, The Book Witch was one of our highest rated thus most anticipated reads of 2026. It does not release until April, however. So yes, I know it's pretty early to post this now but I want to give people enough time to get on the lists they need to be able to get this book on time. I hope this is helpful rather than overwhelming!
The rest of the books will be chosen at a later date after a second round of voting. For now... on to our October pick!
The Book Witch by Meg Shaffer is a fantasy novel about Rainy March, a "Book Witch" who enters books to fix plot holes and protect stories, but must team up with a fictional detective from her favorite series to solve the mystery of her grandfather's disappearance and a stolen book, all while navigating the forbidden romance with the detective himself. It's a love letter to reading, featuring magical adventures inside classic novels like The Great Gatsby and Alice in Wonderland, and is set for release April 2026.

This thread is for initial thoughts, expectations, assumptions, etc - I'll be back the second week of October with a list of specific discussion questions for us all to dig into.
Just a reminder that book club is for everyone! Feel free to join us if and when you can - no pressure to keep up with every month... you can also pop in later in the year and catch up on the convo if you're a slow reader or had a long wait to get your copy. It's all very low-key.
If your post includes *spoilers* make sure to use the super cool new spoilers feature so we don't ruin anyone's good time.
Can't wait to see what you think of this one!
