nye plans?

you're like stars
I usually like a low key NYE.. most years in the past it's just been myself, kiddo, and my oldest friend. we're homebodies lol bf likes to go out for those fancy nye dinners though. Last year was a bit over the top LOL.. I think we're doing a less crazy dinner this time, and then back to my homebody comfort zone haha

With two little ones, we just stay in. We'll put the kids to bed at the usual time, but then we'll get our 7.5 year old daughter up at 11:30 pm so she can watch the ball drop with us. I decorate and put out party hats and noise makers. We have hors d'oeuvres and sparkling juice to toast in the new year. So, even though it's just the three of us, I try to make a big deal out of it because my daughter gets SO excited for new year's.

We just stay in and do some sort of marathon, I have a feeling we'll be doing a skylanders marathon until the kids pass out and then DH and I will just watch something. Staying up until midnight is totally normal for us, so NYE is never something big except that it's the one time a year we allow the kids to have soda and go crazy on the junk food and stay up as long as they can. I don't know if my 6 year old will make it this year, but he might, he has a hard time falling asleep and tends to stay up until at least 10 every night.

We host a party of a few families. Our kids are 6-12 years old, plus a 23 year old. Sometimes the younger ones crash early in the spare room, sometimes not (my 9 year old stayed up year before last but put himself to bed about 11 last year) . We have snacky things, a bonfire and then fireworks at midnight.

After that it depends on how tired everyone is, sometimes they all get sent off to bed around 12:30 and the adults stay up and play games for a couple hours, sometimes everyone goes home around 12:30. I generally crash around 1am one way or the other but Brad & the others have been known to see 3 am.

DH (if not cold, we'll go along) will be helping FIL with his Big Band radio show... has been on for every NYE for like over 40 years... then home around 10:30 or so and we'll have snacks and at midnight we eat 12 pieces of herring (family tradition, one piece for each month for financial success in the coming year - we hate it)... kiss at midnight and then off to bed. :)

We always hang out with friends...have a bonfire of Christmas trees...lots of food and fun. We stay the night and will all usually have breakfast together the next morning.

We usually just hang out at my parent's house or our home... although last year we hung out at a friends house and had dinner together. :) Our tradition at home is to order Thai or Chinese food, put a movie on, and play board games until about 11:30 and then we turn on the TV and wait to see the ball drop. We toast with sparkling cider and kiss each other. :)

This year L.J. will be away on a trip with my parents so it's just the two of us. We are going out to dinner with friends (just adults) and then back to one of their houses to shoot off fireworks with all their kids. Should be fun!

We are going to a friends house. The kids can do fireworks outside and I hide inside and pretend they aren't going to blow themselves up. :crying:

We usually go to bed at 10:30 like always, and then we start off our new year wellested. We might let the kids stay up if they are up for it, but not too late and probably just watching a movie in a blanket fort.

We always go out for a nice dinner. This year, we're going to see the new Hobbit movie and go out for dinner. We're not usually awake for the fireworks or the ball drop, though. I'm not awake, anyway. lol sometimes Wes is.

Just a quiet night at home for us. We celebrate early (like 8 pm, LOL) with the kids. DH usually goes to bed before midnight. The last few years I've woken my oldest (10 years old) to see the ball drop. This year he's going to try to stay up and my youngest (5) wants me to wake her.

We usually spend a quiet time at home and try hard to stay up to midnight but it never seems to happen for us.....we all fall fast asleep early on.....lol.

We get together with our good friends - parents are my close friends and their boys are 2 of Cheyanne's closest friends. This year it's at their house and we're having a Mexican buffet. We'll all watch a couple movies and Cheyanne and the boys will be playing some XBox I'm sure.

We all make it to midnight and this year the kids don't go back to school until the 6th so they have plenty of time to catch up on sleep. Cheyanne has been up until midnight most of vacation anyway.

That is a good question! I think we will be going to a friends house (because I'm not hosting- lol), drinking, and having fun.

We've been invited to a celebration at a friend's country club. But I think we will pass and stay home and do fondue with the kids. :)

bf, kiddo, and I are doing things low-key this year. A nice night in, homemade meal (nothing out of the ordinary for us), maybe watching the cheesy New Years TV specials. Really staying simple this year.
