NSBR: Need recommendations for a great mop

So we have tile floors and I can not find a mop that I like to save my life. I've done the swiffer mop but the cleaner leaves my floor sticky. I hate mops that I have to touch to wring or those microfiber mops where you have to take the cloth off to clean and rinse and then put back on. I just bought a mop from Walmart- OCedar but it was cheap- one of those sponge mops that you pull on the handle or push on the handle and it wrings itself but it already broke. My husband makes fun of me with my mop purchases but he doesnt clean the floor so he doesnt get how these mops just arent working. So..... after a long winded post...I need some recommendations.

I would love to know the answer to this, too. I use the swiffer... It's good, certainly not great. I have been thinking about buying a steam mop. But, before I spend a $100 or so on it, I'd like to know how well it really works on tile, esp the grout.
 
I love my steam mop. It is seriously the best mop I have ever bought. Mine is a Shark steam mop. It came with a rectangle head and a triangular head with like five different pads. The head flips so you can clean with both the top and bottom of the pad. I dont really use the triangular head and it is much smaller. It does get the floor really clean and does not leave any residue. All you use is water. And it does not soak the floor so it dries really quickly unlike regular mopping. I cant find the exact one I have as I have had it for several years now.
 
I have a cheap-o "Cedar" sponge mop right now because my last one broke. Hate the swiffer. But, the Euroflex Monster Steam mop on my Amazon wishlist... waiting anxiously for Christmas!!! It does tile & carpet and supposedly cleans EXTREMELY well! Can't wait!

Eureka makes a steam mop, too... the Enviro, which I would love to get if DH balks at the price of the Monster. The only difference is the Eureka one doesn't do carpets.
 
I had some sort of steam mop but I didn't like it at all. Can't remember the brand though.
 
I love how the swiffer is so simple to use, but like you, I hate that it makes my floors STICKY! Whats the point of mopping if my floor is going to feel worse than it did before I mopped it?! I thought it was only me that was having sticking floors after using it! I tossed it in the trash one day.

I went back to using my Hoover Floor Mate. I got it in November of 2003 and the darn thing still works brilliantly!
 
I HATE all mops and the Swiffer left my tile floor completely streaked. I still use a swiffer type mop, but with a microfiber cloth that I dip in water with a little vinegar. Yes, I do have to take the cloth off and rinse/wring it, but it's the only thing that gets my floor clean without being too heavy or something that gets moldy (a problem I always have with rag mop kind).
 
I use a swiffer for in between clean up type things or a quick clean when I have 15 minutes to get ready for guest! :) I use a hoover floor mate for my mopping the whole thing. I really like it. I have used my mom's shark steam mop and loved it. I also used my Hoover Carpet Cleaner that has a hard floor attachment. Seems to do the trick too. Um......I may have issue with housekeeping tools. Didn't notice until I was finished typing this out! LOL
 
Have you heard of Norwex? I went to a party last night and the lady totally had me sold on the mop....I was set on buying it until I say it was $119! Yikes! You just use water with it though-no products. I laughed when I read the post because it sounded like the lady's sale's pitch...Do you hate when your floors are sticky after you Swiffer? My husband is obsessed with mops (not even kidding-weird but true) so I seriously thought about getting it for him but its spendy!
 
We have a swiffer but I knit a reusable cover for it from kitchen cotton, which of course has to be removed and washed, but it works beautifully.

Amy- my husband says I have a mop obsession too. But I can't find anything that I like and its frustrating!

E-cloth has a mop, also. The e-cloth products are similar to Norwex, but not nearly as pricy. I have several of their cloths and they work great! I haven't tried their mop, but I would get it if I was in the market for one.
 
I spent 100 on mine. It isnt quite so spendy when you think of the cleaning products you wont have to keep buying and the fact that youll be using one less chemical in your home. Now I am not familiar with that product but what sold me on a steam mop was that I used mostly bleach and pine sol and wanted to eliminate chemicals. I know it works cause I can see the pad after I mop is dirty and I can wash the floor with a damp cloth and see very little dirt afterwards

I have a Braun steam mop. I love it. It does tile, certain woods and you can spot clean carpet with it. I got it for about $60 at Target
 
I have parquet and tile throughout my entire downstairs and I have tried every single mop known to man and hate them all...including my $750 Polti. So yeah, I go with the good ole bucket and cloth on my hands and knees solution.
 
I have a Vileda micro-fibre "string" mop and a ringer bucket. Works great -- no need to ring the mop by hand, the mop head is washable, replacement heads are easily available, and it's inexpensive.

I don't use one now b/c our current house is carpeted. When we move (saturday eek) everything but one room is hardwood floors or tile... so.... yeah. I'm looking for something that can do ceramic tile, vinyl and wood.
