NSBR: finding skinny kid pants

My four-year-old son must be one of the skinniest kids I know. I am going to need new pants for fall for him soon, and am at a loss as to where to find something that is long enough, but won't fall off. He's almost 40" tall, but only weighs about 33 lbs. He still wears 18 month shorts but will need 4T in length for the fall. His proportions are so off at this point, that I'm not sure of where to find pants for him.

Any ideas of where I can get decent looking slim-fit jeans for boys? He actually fits well into a pair of girls' jeans we accidentally got at Old Navy, but I really think the teachers at preschool would think we were NUTS if they ever noticed that!

TIA!
Karen

I was going to suggest TheChildren's Place, too. I know Sears carries slim for kids. TCP has adjustable waists which helped us tons for both of our boys when we were running into the same problems.

also look for those adjustable waists..the ones with the twill tapes and buttons inside the waist band? my DS can probably still wear like a 7 and he's 9, lol but he needs 10 length so I get 10 slims and then adjust the waist all the way in. I get those at walmart.

Old Navy actually does tabbed waist AND slim..my son can wear like a 6 in waist but needs a 10 in length lol

I got him all 10 slims at old navy (we wear uniforms for school so it was perfect). Same goes for jeans..check out their stuff :) They have a sale this weekend too 2/12 shirts I think and 2/25 jeans..might be cheaper for toddler sizes

also--sometimes what they don't have in the store in slim..they will carry online

Target has slim and tabbed waist too!!

my children to a tee! my 5 1/2 year old is just now hitting 38 lbs! we buy old navy or gap slims they work really well! esp the ones with the adjustable waist to cinch them in even more.

We have this with my daughter, too. Old Navy and Gap slim sizes work best for her, and we tend to do a lot of leggings and sweats (for the elastic waist) on days we stay at home.

Wow! You guys are fast!! I just saw that several stores you've mentioned carry 4T and 4 in boys's sizes. I think the regular boys' sizes in slim might work. The toddler sizes all seem to be cut baggier... or at least it seems that way to me. I assume that's to accommodate a diaper?! I'll try some of these slims and see what I find. He looks so silly when I have to really cinch jeans that are inches too big around his hips. The kid clearly does not have our genes. ;-)

MY second DD is like that she's 6 and only tips the scales at at 38lbs!!! I have good luck with Wal Mart "Old Glory" brand and my MIL is a big JC Jenny shopper and I must admit their slim "Arizona" brand are great for her too!!! Both those have tabbed waist too!!!

this would be my daughter - 9.5 years old, wears a size 7 slim, weighs maybe 45lbs. Petite to say the least.

I buy her stuff from Wal*Mart, The Children's Place, Old Navy, Gymboree and Please Mum (a Canadian Store). And I have also found stuff for the boys (who just need a slimmer waist in their usual sizes for their ages) at all these places.

Camden has this trouble too. He's 42 inches, and 36 lbs. We're going to try Lands End slim jeans this year. Target, Gymboree, and Gap all have adjustable waists, which are helpful, but they bunch up like crazy because we have to cinch them up so much.

My 8yo weighs 40 pounds. Yep. 40. He's skinny!!!!! I buy him gymboree slims most of the time and still have to adjust the waist in. A friend gave me some gap kids and some old navy kids jeans in slim and they fit well too.

yes yes yes adjustable waistbands are a must LOL. Now that ce is getting into "bigger" sizes I've been having better luck spotting them. Target almost always has them

btw... he's 36lbs.. and btwn 46-47" :D :D :D so I soooooo feel ya LMAO.

i used to pull my hair out 7-8 years ago when adjustable waist bands and slims were unheard of for children!! used to annoy the crap out of me...i would do all my kids clothes shopping grumbling that they didn't make anything for slimmer kids and i used to swear that i was gonna start my very own kids clothing line called "string beans". :D

OMG! I have the total opposite problem. I try to find the husky's in my son's size otherwise we have to cuff or hem.
