NSBR: does anyone use wordpress?

my domain renewed automatically (i thought i'd cancelled it... oh well), so i've moved my blogs (we have my blog, and our "life blog" and a wedding blog/site) over to my domain. however, it's wordpress. and wordpress is SO HARD to customize. i'm not thrilled with the theme i have now, but i also don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a premium theme right now. i liked blogger, because their codes were easy to manipulate and i could find themes easier (like zoe's blog in a box).

does anyone use wordpress? or know of any easy to manipulate themes? i miss having headers and sidebar headers and custom fonts, and i can't find anything for wordpress where i can do those things :thumbdown:
 
What theme are you using? I dont find it too hard to customise...I use it lots. Are you using the version that is hosted on your domain, or one that is hosted by wordpress? (did you download from wordpress.org, or using wordpress.com?)
 
I use Wordpress but since I use it for business I use a premium theme that's super super customizable called Catalyst. You can literally do anything you want with it but it's probably more than you want or need to spend for what you're doing.

If all you're looking to do is change your header, sidebar headers, custom fonts, etc those are all pretty easy to do with any Wordpress theme. You just have to find the right part of the CSS to add the code into.
 
Oh and if you aren't sure what CSS you're looking for exactly in your theme, I highly recommend the Firebug plugin. You install it in your browser and then when you go to your blog, it will let you inspect the page so you can click on any element and it'll show you the code for it. Really handy when you aren't sure what the theme designer named something.

@ melissa: i currently have a free version of the pagelines theme/framework on all of our blogs (this is my main blog: http://thedesignergirl.net/blog/). i like that i could customize the background/header/colors. but i don't love the way the actual theme works- like, i can't have full posts, it puts a "read more" no matter what i do to the codes. and i miss having fancy fonts. my blogs are self hosted on my domain.

@lynnette: i looked at catalyst, and it's awesome. like, eventually, i will have a business blog. but right now? i'm not comfortable spending that much. maybe down the line, but not right yet. know what i mean? and i'll go check out firebug. i don't use firefox, but i can always download it just for doing theme stuff. thank you!

what i want is a theme where i can have a custom background image, custom colors, custom header, and maybe custom fonts/font sizes. i'm graphically oriented, i'm horrible at coding and css (but if i have the correct directions, i can figure it out)
 
I have a wordpress blog. I did some customization to it. I use Atahualpa as my theme, it's one of the more customizable free themes out there. I have a solid color background but if you know the HTML code for adding an image it can be done Under theme options.
 
I have a wordpress blog too, a pretty new one as a matter of fact, and am still learning about it. I don't find it too hard to use, but I also have a "blog mananger" ie, a good friend who helps me figure it all out. LOL
 
I use WordPress and my theme is from ProPhoto, which is super easy to customize but it's kinda pricey at $199 since it's geared towards photographers. Another option that I've used in the past is ThemeForest, they have tons of WordPress themes and most are reasonably priced. The ones I've bought were around $30-35 but they have themes starting at just $1.
