NSBR: Americal Idol itunes downloads

man am I ticked. I thought the downloads you pay for on iTunes were FULL VERSIONS? They hyped it up last week on the show and so today I went and bought everything of David Cooks. Turns out 3 are full length, 3 are not and HELLO is the MAIN one I wanted and I just paid 99 cents for 1 minute and 45 seconds :(

Did I hear wrong or something? there IS a full version of Billie Jean, Little Sparrow and Day Tripper. Could it be they started the full length after the first couple of shows? or maybe just after they become top 10?

I heard the same thing as you. That the full length ones were supposed to be three minutes. This isn't the first year they've done this, they did it last year too because we have some of Blake's songs.

well the only thing I can deduce is maybe they start that after they make top 10? It would probably be too much to studio produce every song everyone sings until it gets to a more manageable number of contestants :I Which is sad cause man, HELLO David Cook style is the cure for what ails ya, and i'm happy even if I only have 1:45 seconds of it, lol. I may start a petition for him to put a full length version on his first album when he hits the big time. I forgot my stereo could go this loud :)

Yeah, the full studio versions ONLY started after they were down to the top 12 (on the big stage). The others were just live performances (which I've downloaded for free from an Idol blog and refuse to pay for).

Having said that, I've bought several of the studio versions, and I LOVE them.

Yeah, last year, they just sold them on the Idol website until after the season ended... then they moved to iTunes. This is the first year that they've been at iTunes from the beginning (and it makes it SO much easier for me to impulse buy. lol)

me again...lol

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Billie Jean. Whoa. I just heard it all the way through for the first time and OMG....that boy and his guitar. I can't STAND Michael Jackson and I really didn't think I would like this....but all I can say is :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Hot guitar men make me swoon...... rofl

TOTALLY! Billie Jean is awesome (actually, all of DC's are).

I also LOVE Michael's "It's All Wrong But It's Alright" from this week. YUM.

OK - I have a question - if you have a MP3 player, not an iPod, can you download those songs and have them work? I'm not an i-anything, and I refuse to get an i-Pod just to get the Idol songs that I like.
You know, I couldn't stand David Cook the first couple of weeks (when it was the top 24), but since he's been in the top 12, I can't get enough of him! He's so good and original!

Leslie, I think what you'd have to do would be to download them from iTunes (you can download the iTunes software for free). Then burn them to a CD and then rip them back on your computer in the MP3 format (or whatever format your player requires).

someone else might know an easier way, but that's what I'd do.

Yes, you can do as Libby suggested, or buy a program that tricks iTunes into thinking it's burning to a CD (you waste less CD's this way) and transfers them to MP3 format. I use a program called Noteburner, and I just use it so that I can burn MP3 discs for listening to in the van (so we can keep the music going for like 7 hours instead of having to switch every hour, lol). I think it cost me like $30 for the program, but the amount it has saved me in wasted CD's, it's worth it!
