Notebooks - questions ...

I am wanting to make my own small notebook with my bind-it-all to keep in my purse. How would you keep it closed so the pages don't get messed up? My initial thought is to put a hole in each cover (going to use clear plastic covers) and run a ribbon through ... but then you have the hassle of messing with it constantly ... and I want it able to be grabbed and used in an instant. How would you do it? ... can you show me how you have solved this?

I'm trying to decide how to decorate the cover ... whether I want to just put a decorative page behind it or what ... can you show me how you have decorated a clear cover on a notebook you have carried around in your purse?

You could use an elastic string trim or plain elastic (comes in different widths in the sewing section) or a plain rubberband.

If you use elastic you could cut two slits in the back plastic cover and thread the elastic through that before tying or gluing the ends together (If you glue the ends you could put them in-between the slits on the inside of the cover to hide them).

Or for a rubberband or other continuous closure you could attach it to the back cover with an eyelet or a snap.

I'd use an elastic loop the length of it, fastened in the back cover. I've done it a lot and love the technique and the look, and its simple to open/close as well.

Or if you have one of those punches for threading ribbon...they are two rounded-end slits near each other...that would work too and look nicer maybe? I don't have one, but I've seen them around.

Like this one, but not so big..http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/...utm_content=Web Site&utm_campaign=Google Base

Have you used one of these before with the plastic? I'd be tempted to buy one this weekend if there is a Memorial Day weekend coupon!?!? Think it would punch through plastic?

I have no clue if it would or not. How about a round punch...from the crop a dile? That would make nicer looking holes for the elastic than cutting slits? And we know that will go through plastic!
