Noise Reduction?

I have a really cute photo that has a LOT of noise and want to fix it, but I have NO idea how!

I was at The Daily Digi, and she uses a Noiseware program, which I downloaded and installed (the free version), and while it took care of the problem, it placed grids over my picture because its not the "real" registered version. I was totally disappointed because whats the point of giving it for free, and you can't use it anyways??

I tried doing Noise Reduction in PSE6, but no matter how I toggled the options, it didn't change my photo at all... Are there any tutorials out there that I should look at, or do you have a free program that you use?? Help!

I have the pro version but I once had the free one and it worked. I was able to save as a jpeg.

you can use neatimage, there is a free version that doesn't have watermarks

I used to use neatimage but now use noiseware but neatimage is still good

I don't think I've ever used Noiseware before but I do have the free version of Neat Image on my computer and it works fine (when I remember that I have it and actually use it lol) and I'm pretty sure it works similarly. So maybe try that instead?

Okay I just downloaded this one:

Noiseware Community Edition Standalone 2.6
Standalone application.
Freeware, Save as JPEG, Automatic noise profiling
<Free Download for Windows>

and I ran a photo through it and it let me save it as a jpeg and there are no grid lines or watermarking on it. So maybe try this version, it is the very last option on the downloads page. I'm guessing it is a very basic version but it's useable for longer than the 15 day free trial on the other versions

Thanks for your help ladies! I had seen those programs when I did a Google search, but didn't download them until I knew if they were any good . I tried out Neat Image, Noiseware & Topaz DeNoise (which is just a 30 day trial).

I like both Neat Image and the free version of Noiseware, and will be keeping both until I decide which one gives me better results!

Here's the photo I was working on, it is now salvaged & scrapable, woot!!

that is really a cute photo!! Do you not have noise reduction with your editing program? I use PSP XI and I have a noise reduction on there which seems to work pretty well at least to me it does.

I use PSE6, and it does have a noise reducer, it really sucks. I slid the bars every which way, and it didn't make any difference at all.

YAY! I took photos with my phone at the Fleetwood Mac concert and I knew there was no way they were going to be scrapable but with this post I may have a chance!
