No longer computer-less

So my waiting is over. Yesterday I arrived to Bratislava and my IT friend was lovely enough to drive me home from the station and give me my new laptop right away.

So far I'm very happy. It's an HP EliteBook like the previous one and this is what it has in bragging terms (I have to, please forgive me!):

17-inch matte (yay! because I love matte) DreamColor screen
one 128 GB SSD drive
one 750 GB/7200rpm drive
one Bluray drive
8 GB memory
intel i7 @ 2,80 GH
Nvidia Quadro K4000M graphics card
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

The previous one lasted 6 years and I hope it can be resurrected (my guess is the ventilation is too dusty or simply faulty, it overheats to the point of crashing to a blue screen), so if this one lasts the same I'm going to be a very happy scrapper.

It's quite bulky and heavy as you might imagine, but it's fast and quiet and a joy to use so far. Haven't scrapped anything yet, spent the afternoon with sorting and installing stuff, LOL.

Congrats on your new computer! Looking forward to your layouts once you get everything installed and up and running!

woohoo!! i had to get a new computer two weeks ago - although i'm not as far along as you in getting it all set up - LOL - i saw on FB how much you had transferred over ;) nice!

Dang! That's a nice machine! I'm shopping for a new one, and I've only got budget for half the machine you've got. I hope you love it!

Haha, I might re-do things a bit now I've thought about it. I think I'll reinstall all software to the classic drive, because those 128 GB will be better off if they only carry the system. But that's for later on, I totally need to do some scrapping before I start dabbling into installations again. :-)

Good luck with your transfer! It's always tiresome in the beginning, but it's worth it hey.

Good luck with yours! What are you getting? Actually I think about you every time I put a mug of coffee next to my machine. O_o

In an ideal world, I would have opted for 256 GB solid state drive and 32 GB memory, but budget-wise, it topped my original idea by 30% and this was the upper limit for me. The price tag was pretty impressive as it was, LOL. But I told myself that I'd get something really wow for a change. :-)
