Newsletter Questions for Gmail Users

Hey chickies!

Since our server move in February, we've had some reports of problems with our newsletters not displaying images for gmail users. It's mostly been designers who have mentioned the problem rather than customers, so I thought I would ask you guys a couple of questions if you have a minute...

Are you having trouble seeing the images in our newsletter?
Do you use gmail?
Do you use a browser or client to access your gmail account?
If you use an email client, which one do you use?

Many of us arent having trouble because we access our mail via an email client and I've even had people report no trouble in gmail via a browser, so I thought I would check in to try and get a feel for how widespread this issue is and also to try to get more info to help us troubleshoot.

Thanks muchly for the info, and sorry for ugly newsletters if you've been getting them!

I could not see the images today. I am a gmail user and I use Firefox. I didn't look to see if I could see the images on my phone.

I have a gmail account too. I use it on the PC via outlook. Outlook is always set up to ask me to 'download' pictures, so that is nothing new. Once I pushed the download pictures it looked just peachy! So nothing odd on my end........

I use Chrome to view my gmail account. I haven't been able to see images on it for a while now, but I just click the link at the top of the newsletter to view in my browser and it takes me through to the blog.

I use Gmail and when I view it in Safari it works fine but when I view it from my desktop software (I use Mailplane), the images are hit or miss. Sometimes none of them show, sometimes they all show and sometimes a few of them are missing. When they're missing they just show as a blue box with a question mark.

This will sound weird but I will try to explain. I use GMail and Firefox. The first time I opened the email (Friday @ 6pm), I could see all of the images, text, etc with no problem. Once I was done looking at it, I sent it to the trash folder. I went back to check it again (just now...a little past midnight) since seeing this thread and I only see the text and links and no images.

Now, I did a search for the newsletters that are still in my inbox, those dated after February (including the one for 4/4) and they all show fine.

I use gmail in Chrome, and I haven't been able to see any images either in my browser or using the gmail app on my phone in several weeks.

After reading, Tronesia's post, I went back to check previous newsletters where I *know* I was able to see the images originally (ie Dec 2014), and those are all broken now, too.

For tonight's newsletter, I didn't see any of the images, but I did see the alternate text in addition to the broken image boxes.

Are you having trouble seeing the images in our newsletter? Yes!
Do you use gmail? Yes
Do you use a browser or client to access your gmail account? I use Internet Explorer

I now read the newsletter on the blog.

I use gmail and chrome and haven't been able to see the images for a while now (same as the image Libby posted above). I use the gmail app on my phone and can't see them either, but if I use the safari app on my phone I can see them.

I use a browser on my computer and an app on ipad and can never see the images - havent been able to for a long time

heres what it looks like for me on my computer:

so I read it on blog =) - oh and I use either firefox or chrome, both look much the same.

here I go, being the odd person... :D

I used Gmail and view from Chrome and this week's newsletter, I didn't have any problems seeing the graphics. I just went to look at it right now, and the graphics are still there...

Last week, I couldn't see the graphics on my computer, but I thought it was a bad hotel internet connection... like the graphics were too big or something. So, I clicked shift (on the keyboard) and refresh icon, to clear the cache and the graphics displayed.

I just looked back at the newsletter emails from the last month and I can see all the graphics on them... so not sure why I'm special... :o

Thanks for the feedback girls. Will you guys check your emails today and let me know if you see images now?

Jason and I have been working on this and I think he may have figured it out, so let me know!
