New monitor or new computer?

I'm so torn!

My computer is 5 years old and it's starting to be a bit sluggish. My monitor is the bigger problem though -- it just won't hold its calibration so my edits are always off. It's driving me batty with my photo editing in particular. Like people look fine on my monitor, and then when I see them printed out, they look like they have a bad case of jaundice. :(

So, should I go buy a really nice monitor and then eventually another PC? OR, do I go buy a Mac? I love the 27-inch one, but I'm worried about switching from PC to Mac and if it will be challenging...
 
I'd get a new computer too. 5 years is a long time.

My Macbook is almost 5 years old now, but thank God it's still fine. I sent it for upgrades & repairs tho a couple times.
 
I'd replace both if at all possible. It sounds like both are getting to the point where they're likely to fail in the near future, and if it were me I'd go middle of the road on both rather than all out on one and then be stuck when the other died.
 
Getting a new computer does make sense; five years is a pretty good life for a computer. I'd rather thoughtfully replace it now than wait for it to "die" and be stressed out trying to replace it in a rush and having to recover my files.

So, I guess my dilemma is: Mac or PC? I have Photoshop CC so I can easily switch that to Mac at no cost (or so I'm told...). That's my only really pricey software.
 
MAC! You'll never have to worry about calibration again :) I love my 27" iMac like it's one of my children. Though it never talks back or breaks anything so maybe more than my children...LOL
 
The 27-inch iMac is niiiiiiice. You would not regret that! I bet there are a lot of switchers around here that could give advice when you run into trouble. It does take getting used to a new OS, but the Mac is really quite lovely. I have actually switched the other way recently (not by choice, and I used to work at Apple so I've gotten lots of funny reactions from FB friends lol) and I keep getting amazed by things that Windows doesn't do. Like, sure, 7zip is nice and all, but the whole idea that I had to download third-party software to unzip two files at the same time just blows my mind. I'm used to everything just acting sensibly! lol
