Need some camera advice

I found the Canon Powershot S5 IS today at Target on clearance for $294. It's basically like the S2 that I have that is dying...but has double the ISO, a better processor, a bigger screen (good for the old eyes) and faster continuous shooting speeds.

I'm mostly sure it's a good deal after the quick google for pricing I just did. Does anyone have it and HATE it?

I can't go for a big SLR...I know I'll never use the power it has and it's a waste of money for me, but I need to upgrade soon. ACK LOL

The only P&S Canon I have is the G6 (and I think they are up to like G9 now lol) and I love it! I still use it when we go to the park or zoo and I don't want to lug an SLR.

I doubt you could go wrong with any Canon, but here's a site I go to when I want a review

I can't help, I use a cheapo Polaroid -- I love it though. LOL, it's pink and they gave proceeds to breast cancer research.

I don't have that one but if your old one is not working properly you can use the Canon loyalty program to upgrade - check the thread at FatWallet for details http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/849344/?start=0. It is worth a look to see if you can get what you want for that price.

I have it and while I like it for the most part I find zooming in on something even not on full zoom you lose alot of quality. That of course is common with all p & s cameras though. I also have a hard time getting it to focus in macro. It'll focus on the wrong thing. Like I was taking pictures of butterflies at a butterfly encounter here in florida and the camera kept wanting to focus on the leaves beyond the butterfly. In the handbook it says that happens sometimes and gave suggestions on how to get it to work. Other then that I have absolutely no complaints
