Need Photobook Cover Information

I'm ready to print a 100-page book and need to do it cost-effectively. The contenders for my business are Shutterfly (already picked up a code on eBay for a book...will use it this time or for a different project), Artscow and Viovio.

I have read pros and cons of all of these companies but I need a little bit MORE information before I make up my mind.

My first instinct is to go with VioVio because I've heard a lot of good things...my second is to go with Artscow *despite* the negatives I've heard, (taking a chance), my last option is to go with Shutterfly. I am most comfortable using Shutterfly because they are the only company I've ever used and I love their product, turnaround time and customer service.

My biggest concern is the cover. Does anyone know if you can fully customize the cover....front back and spine....with VioVio and/or Artscow? I would appreciate any information you have!

yes, I was wanting to do 8x8. That's the *only* downside to VioVio for me, is that I already have all of my layouts sized down to 8x8. LOL. Which means I have to rework. But it's no big deal, I have the 12x12 versions still. But I always save a 7.9x7.9" layout on an 8x8" white canvas for printing and save them in a second folder. I still scrap in 12x12 out of convenience, but the only time I printed a 12x12 book I hate it. So the short version of my answer is yeah, 8.5x8.5.

Can you direct me to their specs for cover/spine/back?

You can upload those 8x8's you resized... as long as they've accommodated for trim and bleed. You could also upload the 12x12's, but again you want to make sure you've accounted for the bleed/trim/gutter.

These might help with Viovio:
Resizing pages
Uploading pages
Creating your book <---- TEMPLATE FOR COVER IN THAT POST

Megan, do you recall what shipping was like?

They have a ton of shipping options. I'm poor so I picked the Super Saver Shipping ($1.99) and they say it could take 2-3 weeks. I received my book a little less than 2 weeks after I ordered it.
Other options:
USPS Media: about $5
USPS Priority: about $11

UPS

FedEx

Their production time is slower than Shutterfly... usually takes about a week.

wow, that IS great shipping....I haven't printed in six months, I suppose waiting a few more weeks can't hurt. As I've let the printing pile get higher and higher I've been dreading it more and more.

So the base price of $14.99 does not include ANY pages right? It's still 30 cents per page, so 100 page book would be $30 plus $14.99?

Correct! If you want the Pro Binding instead of the quick binding, it will be an additional $3.99.
