Need Input on Bikes with Pegs

Any of your kids have them and are they safe? Adrienne wants a bike with pegs and I'm not sure if they are safe. She is 10.

what do you mean with pegs? Do you mean so someone else can stand on the bike while she's riding on it? If so, as long as whoever is on the back doesn't purposely make her fall over, then it's fine. I use to ride on the back of my brother's bike when we were kids

connor had one and the bike was SO HEAVY.. he hated it. it was one of those bmx'y sporty kid bikes. it was just terrible. Granted, he mostly still can't ride a bike so this was a huge contributing factor lol. safety wise.. again, other than the massive weight of the bike, it seemed fine to me.

Most bikes with pegs have removable ones, so if you decide it is unsafe you can just unscrew them. Ben's bike has pegs and we removed them before even giving the bike to him. If he wants them later, we saved them.
