She's been gone about 6 weeks and just found out she will not be home for Christmas. I talked to her this AM and she's pretty home sick. I need ideas of what to send in a care package!

So far I'm thinking... dry snack foods, local newspaper, gossip mags... help!

banana bread...homemade cookies, beef jerky, bath and body goodies, her favorite coffee...you could make her up a little stocking and fill it full of goodies! if she has any kids or a spouse how about trying to get a picture and put it in a little frame and send it to her....that's all I can think of right now :)

gum, magazines, international calling card, holiday goodies like peppermint bark, popcorn, holiday-scented candle... thats all I can think of right now. :)

Are there a bunch of you that are friends? The reason that I ask is that we once made an envelope album with little notes from everyone for a friend who had moved away. I wish I would have taken a picture!

Anyway, I got a bunch of colorful #10 envelopes and bound them with a bind-it-all on one side. Along the opposite side, each envelope was sliced open and using a circle punch, I made an indentation on one side of each envelope. On each envelope page, I put a picture of the person whose note was to be inside. The notes were written on pieces of card stock(approximately 8" x 3.5-->1/3 of letter paper, but a little shy of the 8.5" width to account for the binding on the other margin) shaped like a long tag(with a grommet and ribbon tied so that the tag could be pulled out). Each person wrote on their tag and could also decorate the area on the envelope that had their picture. Although, you could also already put their name along with their pic using digi stuff and save that step.

Sorry if this is hard to picture....

Make sure you check the import law of that country if you are allowed to send food and those kind of things.

Not sure where she is but her favorite candies for those moments when you just need something. When we were overseas, I loved it when I got a package with Reeses and 3 musketeers since you don't find them overseas.

I just helped organize an "Adopt-A-Marine" unit for the holidays drive and we mailed out 20 packages out to Afghanistan with dried foods, hot chocolate, batteries, calling cards, candy, more candy, batteries, christmas cd's, holiday cards created by our girl scout troops and dryer sheets (was told they put them in their boots). We put DVD's and new earphones and shampoos and lotions. We were trying to get enough for 140 people so our list may be a bit bigger than what you needed but just giving you ideas. Have fun putting it together. :) I know it is sad but the girl who is going to get the packages and dole them out to the unit told us that they really love it when they get the packages - makes them feel so loved and cared for.

PS
We had someone go to the local hotels and they donated shampoos, lotions and the dryer sheets for our packages.
