Need help selecting a printer to buy...

We've been in our house for a year, had a computer for 6 months and are yet to purchase a printer. I really want an all-in-one so I can scan and print hybrid projects. Was just wondering if any of you have an awesome printer you could recommend me looking into?

I have an EPSON that is like 7 years old, so I won't be able to help with specific models, but I do suggest considering the following:

*Wide format...I got one that will let me print 12x12 pages.
*Archivable ink (pigment ink) Epson and Canon both make really good semi-pro printers that you should look at. Dye based inks WILL FADE. it's a question of when.

I don't know if they make all-in-ones of this variety...you may just want to think about needing two printers? We have one in our office for documents/scanning/printing stuff from the web. I keep the "good" printer with the archival ink in my craft room

This is what I have. or similar anyways. I got mine last year and this is the new model. I love that the inks are all separate. You only have to refill the ones that are out and not have to buy a whole new cartridge just because one ink is out. It does not do 12x12. But it does everything else. Any ways, good luck!!

Personally, I'm not a fan of all-in-one printers. Lots of time if one part breaks, the whole thing becomes useless. So that was a big deterrant for me.

I have an Epson Photo Stylus R340 that I bought 4 years ago. I LOVE Epson, and when this one goes, I will definitely be getting a wide-format Epson. I love their photo paper, and it makes BEAUTIFUL prints.

Ditto... I think you'd be better off saving a little more money and getting a good printer and a good scanner.

I recently bought the MP560 and love it. With the wireless I can print from the laptop and it has dual paper trays so I can keep regular paper & photo paper ready to go.

I have the Kodak ESP 7. It's the first photo printer I've ever had, so I don't have anything to compare it too, but i love it. It doesn't print 12 x 12 though... I don't want to print my los myself, I'd much rather order online, so this does everything I need it too.

Just wanted to mention I upgraded from the Kodak ESP-3 because it was so loud I couldn't use it after my youngest was in bed. Which made it hard for the older one to print homework. The canon is much quieter.

I had a Canon Pixma a while back, but it randomly broke, and would not print anything. It kept giving me errors and saying there was no paper (when there was), and for a couple months prior to it crapping out completely, it was giving me very poor quality prints, even after cleaning, calibrating, changing ink, cleaning heads, etc.

When it died, I bought an Epson. OMG - LOVE! It came with those little sample cartridges that have like 1/4 of a real cartridge. I've printed about 8 cards and a couple hybrid projects and I still have 3/4 of the color ink in each cartridge except the black, which is low, but not empty (this is our main printer, so we print regular stuff off the net, Word, etc, with it, so black ran out first).

Thanks so much for your suggestions! Will definitely look into Epson gear and will most likely end up getting (as suggested) a designated scanner and a designated printer
