Naomi's hybrid birthday cake

OMG! GENIUS! I know of printing images for cakes and stuff but for some reason the thought of doing hybrid never crossed my mind!

You can buy one of those printers for about $150 I think...the ink cartridges, I don't know what those cost but I just got a monthly email from the company. PhotoFrost is one... just in case anyone's interested in doing that at home on a regular basis! Hehe.

ok...that is TOTALLY adorable...now since I am going to be deployed, this is something I can do and send to Matt and he can get a cake made for each of the kids while I am gone! Lena, did you save it to disk and then take it to the bakery? and what size did you do it in PS? Just want to make sure I do it right, so DH doesn't have to have more than 1 cake made!

I had to actually print it out. I made an 8x10 and they printed it 8.5x11. If I would have known the exact dimensions they could print, I would've made it that. But I got an IDIOT when I called to ask if they could do it. he kept saying that he could make it the size of the cake....which he couldn't, btw. I kept asking for dimensions and he just KEPT not getting it. It was a quarter sheet cake.

that is perfect...THANKS for the heads up...I will make sure to call Safeway and verify that they can do 8 1/2 x 11! and did you just print it on regular paper and take it to them? and do you have any do's and don'ts as far as color, writing, etc goes...thanks for the advance input:wub:

Yeah, don't use red. I wasn't happy with how the red turned out (I'm not saying don't use red at all, I just wouldn't use it for the main background). Also I'd be sure to do it as big as possible, I hated that I wasted those few centimeters, lol.

I had the 'photo' one houred.
