Most of you probably don't know this - but I have taught online html classes for eleven years. I do it free from an online web design school. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see people learning something new and developing new talents.
Well, today, I got an email from a frustrated student. She explains that she's stressed out and wasn't enjoying it and that she was quitting. I sent her an email explaining that the lesson she was on was one of the hardest lessons in the class and that maybe once she wasn't so stressed out that she could try again. This apparently set her off.
She starts in about how cold and rude I am and that the only reason I taught was to pimp my own websites. WTH! I never included my websites before, but after getting asked over and over again, in the fall I changed me welcome letters for the class to include them with this saying: IF YOU FEEL SO INCLINED. I take that as an invitation, not a push.
Well, after taking some pretty nasty emails from her today, I finally told her that I was not going to be treated like that and that I was going to tell the dean to make an announcement to all the instructors so that they are aware of her attitude and rudeness so that they could decide for themselves whether or not to waste time trying to teach her.
She sends me an email telling me not to threaten her and calling me quite some nasty profane names! So, I sent her one last email telling her that if she ever used profanity with me again, that I would contact her ISP and have her banned.
Why do people have to act like this? These classes are FREE and I am giving of my time to teach them. And she has to come and act like that to me? I am just beyond ticked off and irritated right now. :cursing:
