my 20 year old cat wasn't doing well and we took him to the vet. she thought it was an ulcer on his tongue (a sign of kidney failure), but he didn't respond to the antibiotics at all. he can't eat or drink at this point without a lot of assistance. we believe he has a tumor on the base of his tongue so he can't lap water or food up. he chomps and we've been syringing water into his mouth. i feel so bad for him, because in all other ways he's acting quite normal. he's frustrated about the drinking.
we're going to have to put him down tomorrow. my bil is a vet and he says that type of tumor is inoperable and woody is getting dehydrated. anyhow, i've been crying a lot today and my boys and dh are also really sad. it's so hard. we've had him our whole adult lives and the boys their whole lives. it's going to be so weird when he's not here anymore. hug your furbabies everyone!
