My poor girl!!!

So she is almost done with her orthodontic treatments and before they could take her braces off she needed to have that little muscle thingy (labial frenulum) that connects your top lip to your gums clipped!! Or else her front teeth would continue to "gap".

So she had it done today and is in some pain!!! :( Today was the next to last day of school...what a way to start summer vacation!! Take a look at my poor baby girl....our dentist says her lip will swell over the next 24 to 36 hours too!!! (Kind of gross picture...be warned!! :D )

But on that note...she is so excited to get her braces off NEXT TUESDAY!!!

Hope she feels better soon! My dd had the same thing done this spring, it looked nasty but she healed up quickly, the first day was the worst. My other DD is doing the countdown to be metal free too (22 days ;) ) Congrats!

Oh, poor girl. Out of all the dental work I have had done, the thing that was supposed to be the worst actually healed the fastest. Here's hoping it happens similar for her.

that's so painful as you get older, darn it :( i hope the worst's over for her & her recovery's quick & as painfree as possible! yay for no braces!!

I never had braces but I did have this done on the top and bottom. before the stitches were out all of my gaps were gone.

Ouchie! Poor kiddo! I didn't even know they do that!

Happy for her that she gets her braces off soon!

My mom had to have the lower one clipped when she was an infant...it was so long that she wasn't able to suckle properly and was literally starving. Thankfully they finally figured out the problem and corrected it.

(((hugs)))

I used to work for a periodontist and we did this surgery all the time for kids with braces... but it always was so exciting when they came for their followup and they had their braces off and looked so pretty :)

I'm a wimp--I couldn't look. I hope she heals quickly! My DS had the same thing done when he was 6, and it healed pretty quickly. I think the worst part for him was being on such a limited diet of soft foods for almost a week.

Oooh! Yowzers! I've had peridontal gum grafts in the past. They hurt like all get out. Make sure you find some toothpaste for her to use that does NOT have mint oil in it!

Ouch, that looks sore, hopefully she recovers from that quickly and she can look forward to getting her braces off!!

Ouch! I had that done last summer for my bottom lip, along with a gum graft at the same time. I was miserable for a day or two, but it wasn't too bad after that. I hope she feels better soon!

Thanks ladies!!! She is still a bit sore but is taking it like a trooper!! She even went to school today for their last half day...of course I think that more so that she could show off her stitches to all her friends then that fact that she really loves school!! :D :D
