My little feel good story for today!

I think some of you will be able to relate, so I'm gonna share!

We have a 2 year old golden whose favorite toy has been this dumb zebra we got at Marshall's / Home Goods when she was a puppy. She has looooved this thing like crazy to the point where he's lost arms that I tried stitching back on before giving up and just closing up the holes so he was an armless friend for months.

Last week, she finally gutted him and he just looked so bad. Sadly, I cut off all the tags when she was a puppy so I had no idea the brand name or anything. I searched through tons of dog toy listings before finding a set of 2 (zebra / giraffe) that were mini versions of her fave which gave me a brand name and when I searched that, I found that company's website and found that they no longer made him :(

But then.... I reverse image searched him and Google found a single listing on Ebay selling two of them and you can bet I bought both so we have a back up!

I don't know if those of you who have dogs have experienced this before, but sometimes when you buy a replacement toy, even if it's the same one, they just don't like it the same.

I'm happy to report that isn't the case this time. She is beside herself with joy and has not put it down since we gave it to her!!

So happy she's happy and has a new love in her life! It's my mini Christmas miracle haha :D

Love this story!

Olive has Eduardo and I did the same, searched for replacements bc poor Eduardo is in rough shape!

Aaaw! That is so sweet! I'm glad you were able to find another and that your pupper likes it.

That's so cute. (Your dog and the zebra.)
I WISH Rocky could have a long term toy. He chews toys to bits. Especially soft ones.

That is so sweet! I love when they have favorite toys like that! Thank goodness (or thank Santa) that the new toy was immediately accepted!

I'm so glad that you found not one but two new zebras!

We had similar with our human baby: got a toy caterpillar that played music as a gift, managed to pull too hard that it didn't play music anymore, and found a replacement at Marshall's / HomeGoods. Bugburt was immortalized in glaze as part of my mother's day handprint ceramic plate because we had to bring both caterpillars with us everywhere for a while.

I had picked up a dog toy for my dog not long after I got her in 2017. She took that "little man" everywhere in the house. Within a few months it was getting so worn. But I couldn't remember which pet store I got it at. Luckily, I found it and picked up another one in a different color.

Fast forward to today. She still has "little man" but has loved on "little man 2" just as much. "Little man" doesn't have much left on the top of his head except a small hole that the stuffing now comes out after a rough play period with him. As I look back at her on the couch, "little man" is right there with her.
"Little man 2" has worn spots on him as well.

I have a small basket with duplicate toys of some of her favorites. "Little man 3 & 4" are in that basket! So evidently at some point, I picked up a couple more. Think she would know if I got rid of the original "little man"?

Awww that photo of her with her zebra is so precious!
I am so glad that you found it on eBay! Christmas miracle indeed!

That is so sweet. My Rosie kills everything and then Jelly comes along and picks up what is left and babies it, ie. licks it to death, in other words until it is stiff and gross. It is at that point that I give it a proper burial, get out another one from the stash and the process starts all over.

Aw, what a pretty pup you have! I am so glad you were able to find replacement stuffs for your fur baby! I wish our boy liked stuffies rather than de-stuffing them. When he is done it looks like the mattress pillow blew up all over our yard- stuffing everywhere!

Too cute! Glad she is liking her replacement!

For our Goldendoodle, it is a stuffed cow toy from Menards (we've seen it at a few pet places too). It has also lost all its arms and legs. Last year we bought a new one for Christmas. That one was destroyed sooo much quicker than the original one (thankfully we had kept the original too, just in case we needed a backup, which we did). We ended up throwing away the "new" one a few months after Christmas last year, and going back to the original. (we called them mr and mrs cow for a few months while we had both of them). This year, we have bought one more to try and see how it goes!

aww she's happy with her toy! I'm glad you found two frm ebay. my dog loves his blanket so much, when it was hard for me to mend the baby blanket he had, we bought him a new one, then we bought him another one for Christmas last year.

Awww that is so freakin' cute!! Happy you found her some new ones...
My Beau (cat) is 3 and he has a toy as well...luckily cats dont have the
teeth like dogs have hahaha

Awww that's adorable! I have a fox which appears to be the same manufacturer that my dogs love, but the one baby that never gets bitten or torn is my 2yrs old's "baby" which was one of those heart beat puppies. We don't use the heartbeat since she's been grown, but she loves that one and drags it around with her. She'll even go upstairs to get it if she forgot her. LOL
Yes, I can totally relate to the importance and joy a dog can have from a toy!

Awww... love that! My son has a stuffed bestie - Rupert - and many who have been here for a long time know all about Rupert, lol. We have 7 backups... but they all looked slightly different that he knew they weren't "Rupert"... so they all have names and different personalities... but there is only Rupert.

On the other hand... my mom's service dog had a cuddle pal Zazu from Lion King - Dalton loved that thing until it was mostly holes... my mom would search high and low to get replacements and that is what Dalton would get for Christmas and Birthday every year, a new Zazu - it was really the one toy he would play with the most. It didn't matter to him if it was the original...
