My little dude has chickenpox

I noticed a spot on him yesterday and didn't think anything of it, he went down his nanas to sleep last night and she phoned this morning saying he had loads and it's definitely chickenpox

He was all excited to go back to school tomorrow as now he has to stay off for around an extra week! Jack hasn't had them yet either so he'll probably end up getting them as well, he'll love the time off school lol!

Aw, man, Gemma!!! Sorry about that! My kiddos got a vaccine for chicken pox. I'm assuming they will never get them but I've heard even the vaccine doesn't always create a strong enough immunity against them. I had them as a kid and I remember how awful I felt. Hope the little guy is feeling better soon!

Oops - think it's the season for them Gemma I remember my brother getting them and the very day that he was able to go back to school and Mam could go back to work I got them

That is sucky Gemma. Hopefully he has a mild case. I think I remember someone else saying that they don't widely distribute the chickenpox vaccine in Europe, is that the case?

Nope it's not something we were ever offered here, I didn't even know they did a vaccine for it until earlier this year.

I've got him some lotion to ease the irritation but it's a losing battle trying to get him to sit and let me put some on him.

Buy or get the doctor to prescribe calamine cream and piritone it helps a lot more than the calamine lotion Lukas had them really bad when I was pregnant with Logan. hope he feels better soon. Hugs Crystal xx

Yea, as an adult, they suck! I had them when I was a kid, but when the girls got vaccinated a while back, dh got them!! :thumbdown: not fun for him.

Oh no! So sorry! My oldest had them when he was 4 and it was a pain more than anything. He never really complained or scratched them, we just couldn't go anywhere.
