Thank you so much everyone...we just got home from a long long day. We had visitation tonight at the funeral home and I'm not kidding I think there was close to 300 people that came through. He lived a long full life and was respected by so many people.

My deepest sympathies on your loss, Nikki. I lost my dad almost a year ago last December so I know how particularly hard this holiday season will be for you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Nikki!

I'm lucky enough to still have my paternal grandparents, but they're in their 90's and my grandma's quality of life has declined so much since she had a stroke 6 years ago. She used to be one of the most cheerful people I knew, always busy with one project or another. Now she's depressed all the time and physically unable to do most of the things she used to love. Even though losing your grandfather without warning so soon after losing your grandmother makes it harder on you, maybe you can find some comfort that he went the way he did, able to live his life in a way that made him happy all the way to the end.
