My camera died

My camera died this weekend and I am looking for a new one.
I had an old Nikon D7000.

I am now looking at a Sony A7 IV since I am familiar with it because we use it at work. I know the quality of the photos. I know the interface and settings etc.
Two of my co-workers have this camera at home as well and they love it.

But I thought I might ask here if there are people who recommend another camera?

Ohh no shoot, that's a bummer Sarah! :(
Unfortunally no help here...I use my phone for my pictures

I'm so sorry your camera died. My point-and-shoot doesn't really work anymore. It's a Canon Powershot SX 260 which I've had for like 13 years! I was looking at buying a new one, and the price of cameras right now is crazy!

I've only ever had Canon, so I'm no help!

Off topic...but do you find you use your camera more than the phone? I have an old camera but as my iPhone has gotten better, I find it's easier to not carry a bulky camera. Though I do miss the zoom on the cameras, I can't get from an iPhone.

What a bummer that your camera died, Sarah! I only use my phone for photos. I've never been much of a photographer, so it works for me.

I don't have any recommendations, but It sounds like a good idea to get something that you're familiar with.

My daughter is taking a photography course this semester and after a little research I ended up buying her a Nikon D5600. (It was used from BH Photo with very low shutter count and came with a warranty! -- cuz $$$ for one class is crazy but she might want to make it her minor).

Anyway, I thought it was a good middle of the road option and is much better than my old D90 that she did not want to take! (can't say I blame her. My iPhone 17 Pro is better than my D90 at this point!) If I had a bigger budget there are better ones but she's happy with it so far!

Thank you all so much for your replies, ladies. Much appreciated.

I use my phone as well, but mostly for random quick candid shots throughout the day.

Oh no! I'm sorry your camera died. I can't even remember what DSLR I have because I haven't used it in so long. Good luck with your new one!

Bahh! I'm sorry and I cry with you if you are crying! Because I know I would. I'm just glad we have cell phones as back ups! No recommendations. I have a nikkon and love it. We has a canon previously and loved that too!

Oh no! I'm sorry about your camera :( (no wonder Finn's photos are superb!). I am also canvasing for a camera, I was thinking it must be time to go for a compact but powerful one. I'm gonna check that out and read some reviews.

I know the feeling... mine died on my trip to Disney last August, on the Safari of all places. Have only had my iPhone since. Good luck with a new one!

Good luck with chosing what is best for your needs. Let us know what you decided.

That is such a bummer! I would be devastating if that happened to me on vacation.

Thank you Sherly.
I use my iPhone as well, mostly for quick everyday random snapshots. But that's an old one as well.

Such a bummer!! Honestly I got tired of carrying anything else and only use the iphone now.
