My AC doesn't always break... but when it does it's on a holiday weekend

It was soooo hot & muggy yesterday and today is only marginally better. Can't even call the AC dudes till tomorrow.

That is a bummer Val!
I would absolutely probably die if that happened here in GA with this awful southern summer already starting!
I feel you pain, the AC in my car went out a couple of weeks ago and I just haven't wanted to take it to get freon put in. I is lazy when it comes to fixing my car!

Ha! BTDT!

Too bad you don't live just a little closer; we went to a BBQ at a friend's house whose husband does HVAC work. I could have sent him over. :p

omg it got sooooo hot in the house by yesterday afternoon that it was cooler to sit OUTSIDE. I have to say though, it made it feel like summer instead of shutting myself up inside.

Well, they can't come out till tomorrow at the soonest. That's ok. It's not as hot and I'm REALLY enjoying the windows open and the fresh air and birds singing. I even got to sleep with our window open last night, listening to all the tree frogs and stuff. It was wonderful.

Over 100 in the house is just WRONG. I'd cry! I can't handle being hot like that. Hope you both get some relief soon!!

Repairman said we need a new compressor. We discussed getting a new compressor or a new unit . They have a new unit to put outside and we'd rather spend more for a new one just in case something else goes wrong. Fingers crossed it will be replaced in the next day or two.

Good luck Val!

Edit...11:50AM
It's only costing us $300 more to get a brand new outside unit than just replacing the compressor. Our AC unit is 30 plus years old, so it's better for us to replace it. They'll start working this afternoon or tomorrow.

30 years???? Wow, I bet it's not very efficient at this point. You might end up saving money on your electric bill.

Ours is the fan for the compressor. John told me to tell the lady that, but I wasn't convinced he was right because, uh, he's not an air conditioner repairman! So I told her, "My husband said it's the 'air compressor fan'. Is that even a real part?" She laughed and said yes. :D

We just had to get our's recharged on Friday. Our AC guy said this was the last time!! We have to get a new furnace/AC next spring at the latest. :(

When ours goes out, it's ALWAYS late Friday on a weekend so I feel your pain! Fortunately, we have 2 units so we can usually all crowd into one side of the house for a while.
