My 5 month old has the flu...

My baby had a fever and was screaming last night, so I took her up to the ER... turns out she caught the flu! :( She's so little and it's so scary! She's taking Tamiflu now, which I think is really working wonders. Besides being more sleepy than usual, she's been smiling & laughing, and bouncing around as normal. Luckily her appetite is the same, too so I don't have to worry about that... but the thought of her being so little and sick makes me worry! I didn't sleep at all last night, I kept darting up to peek into her bassinet to make sure she was ok! :crying:

Oh no! Poor little sweetheart! When Ava was about 15 months, she caught a flu and was SO sick. I felt completely helpless. I can only imagine how much more stressful it is when they are so little!!

Hugs Rachael - I hope she's feeling better soon!!

oh poor baby... praying she's better soon... it's so scary when they're so young... many hugs for mama too.

(Hugs) to you both. Poor little baby. Praying for you that it gets better very very soon.

Glad you took her in! I hope the medicine works wonders and gets her back to recovery soon...without mom or anyone else catching it. Did they say it was H1N1 or "just the flu" (which is bad enough on it's own).

I'm a bit concerned about this robotics competition we are going to tomorrow... there could be 1,000 middle and high school kids and then some there...that's a lot of people in a closed in auditorium. ...only the 15yo has gotten the H1N1 vaccine ... 4 of us (out of 5 because dh refuses to get a shot) got the regular flu vaccine. ...and the 15 yo just got the H1N1 Tuesday so not sure how long it takes before you are protected. Will take some hand sanitizer with me and use it constantly!

Thanks for your well wishes, everyone! She's doing ok right now with the Tamiflu pumped into her. She's zoinked out on the couch sleeping, sucking on her tongue (nursing in her sleep). I just brought our 4 year old to the doctor to have him checked but the pediatrician (not our regular ped, he wasn't there today) insisted he doesn't have the flu while she didn't even to a flu test on him. But he has another ear infection... his third in the past 4 months! But he'll be getting tubes in his ears in a couple weeks because he's had so many problems with fluid in his ears and stuffy sinuses. I'm going crazy!!!

So how are the kids doing now Rachael? ...are you staying well?

My oldest went through ear infections constantly when he was little ... had them for 2 solid years but they said tubes wouldn't help because they "cleared up" in-between infections. They stopped appearing when I quit work and was home full time...the doctor said he thought mil was laying him down with a bottle to go to sleep.
