Must See TV?

Ok...this is a bit overwhelming seeing all these shows listed...and I haven't kept up with shows the last couple of years...so I don't know ANY of them to know what they are about.

I like Gilmore Girls (of course I discover them after the series is over), Warehouse 13, and EUReKA (I just bought season 2 today...going to buy season 1 when it arrives at Borders).....we loved M*A*S*H...Home Improvement...Knight Rider...

What should I look into watching if I like those series? I have 2 teen boys that watch with us...so no nudity...and they can't even stand to watch kissing (they look away)...so really looking for family friendly shows....but not toddler shows either. lol

Thanks!!

Sorry Sharon, I don't watch wholesome tv, LOL!

I guess you could watch Fringe. It's sci-fi, and from what I remember there isn't much nudity. And no romance, so no kisses to avoid, lol.
Bones is good. Crime scene sciencey stuff, no nudity, not a ton of romance.
I LOVE NCIS. Again, crime scene stuff. Awesome characters. Etc.

I guess I do watch some decent stuff :p Grey's and Private Practice do not fit the bill though, lol.

What about Newhart (when they worked at the inn)? I remember that show as being funny family fare.

Here is my disclaimer: Shows that I thought were funny at the time I don't always find funny now so this might now be a good recommendation.

I'll try to think of some others.

Survivor starts next week ..i'm not really into reality tv but it's different from the rest and we always enjoy it.

CSI (Miami, NY and original) are good crime shows.

Glee starts tonight on FOX and so far it seems pretty family friendly.

Castle on Monday night seems fairly mild - I think there may have been a couple of sexish scenes last season but no nudity - it reminds me a lot of Moonlighting back in the day.

Fringe is really really good - kind of x-files meets CSI

Ghost Whisperer on Friday nights is totally cheesy and mild but for some reason I keep tuning in lol

and if you have not watched LOST then I TOTALLY recommend renting all seasons 1-6 and watching them...seriously best show on TV ever! :) Not too much kissing :)

Sharon...a few of my boys watch Bones, and they LOVE it! They are trying to catch them all on TV (hulu.com?).

I personally don't watch much TV, but I'm thrilled that Survivor starts next week. That's one show my dh can get me to come sit with him and watch. I also always enjoy American Idol. It almost kills me to just sit on the couch and watch TV. I'm too hyper!

We don't watch much reality TV either, but we do watch Biggest Loser -- I like that it actually has an inspirational message about changing your life rather than just everyone fighting to get each other voted off the show.

My kids LOVE Wipeout and it makes us all laugh together. I think it would be perfect for teen boys, but the season might be wrapping up soon.

Ok...will check these out! Thanks ladies!

Oh yes...dh and the boys have watched wipeout a few times...that show just gets to me though...they made me sit and watch the whole thing...I kept trying to walk out and they kept calling me back in the room...then I started asking questions, apparently too many (why do they do this? how much money? not enough money to make me do it...why again?) ... they decided I asked too many questions and ruined the show. lol They don't ask me to watch it any more with them. lol I just kept thinking about the stuff I could be scrapping while they were watching it.

Besides EUReKA, my favorite show is The Big Bang Theory! My whole family LOVES it and we have bought the 1st season and need to get the 2nd. It's hilarious!! What made me actually start watching it was because it has "David", "Darlene" and occasionally "Jackie" from Roseanne, which is, of course, an american classic in our house.

Besides the ones listed I really like The Mentalist, but it's a crime show so don't know if you like that kind of thing.

Okay after last night's episode of Glee I take back what I said about it being family friendly...seems like there are going to be a lot of teenage sex jokes which I'm not so thrilled about. I had actually recommended it to my mom yesterday and while we were watching it last night I was literally blushing thinking about her watching it. I hope she decided not to lol

I was surprised at how much they focused on that!

I didn't think Glee was good last night at all :-/ had so much promise during the pilot then it turned into teen relationships with sexual undertones lol

but wow is that wife and her sister psycho or what? lol

Omg, the wife/sister thing is absurd! Lol!

I didn't see the whole pilot, but I wanted to give it a chance cuz I love the music aspect of it. But I was totally surprised by the sexual stuff. It was definitely marketed as family friendly, and last night's episode really was not.

I'll have to look this one up...what channel is it on?

Thanks for letting me know! I got a headache last night and laid down ...suddenly it was 9:00! ...so we missed anything that might have been on...

I don't watch a lot of TV either but last year DH and I did get "into" Lie To Me, it starts Monday Sept 28th on FOX!!!

Lie To Me
Here's a little about it!!!
LIE TO ME stars Tim Roth ("The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") as DR. CAL LIGHTMAN, the world's leading deception expert who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if someone is lying, but why. When someone shrugs one shoulder, rotates a hand or raises the lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying.

Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, the series follows Lightman and his team of deception experts as they assist law enforcement and government agencies to expose the truth behind the lies

Big Bang Theory is on CBS on Monday nights-I believe the new season starts in 2 weeks, but reruns are on. It is definitely worth watching! Hilarious!!!!

And one show that will get the whole family (ages 6-47) to gather around the tv is Mythbusters.

I LOVE that show. Those guys crack me up
Oh another good one, if they're into construction, is Build It Bigger. The host is hilarious and they go to REALLY cool sites. The engineer in me loves seeing the projects they go to. Along that lines, another fun one is Colossal Construction.
