Monitor/Printer Calibration...any gurus here? :)

Hey ladies-

DH (completely out of the blue) gave me a new printer for Christmas (Epson Artisan 800)!! :) I'm so excited, but am having the worst time getting it to print how my pages look on my monitor. I've been using an Epson RX620 for about 3 years and have always managed to get it working again after software updates, etc. (I've also just upgraded to PSCS4), but I can't for the life of me get this to work, everything is printing very dark and not quite in the same hues.

Here's what I have for my settings right now-

Color Management- Document (Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
Color Handling- Photoshop Manages Colors
Printer Profile- Working RGB - sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Rendering Intent- Perceptual
Black Point Compensation- Checked on

In Page Setup-Advanced, I've checked "Off- No color adjustment" (as opposed to Epson Vivd, Epson Standard, etc.)

If you have some time to give me your recommendations, I would be SO grateful! I hope I'm just forgetting something obvious...many thanks in advance for any help!

Have you updated your ICC profiles for that printer?

I know my Epson has ICC profiles for every paper type it uses (enhanced matte, glossy, semi-glossy, watercolor, etc). And then I have to go into Print with Preview to select that ICC for Photoshop to use in the printing.

maybe that can help???

Thanks for the suggestion, I've downloaded all of the most recent driver updates for the printer, so I think I have all the right profiles. I'm using Epson Premium Presentation Matte paper and choosing it in the printer preferences...maybe I should just try cleaning the nozzles again...one thing I hate about Epson, it uses SO much ink to clean the nozzles out!

Thanks again for your thoughts!
Teresa
