Is it ok if I brag a little? My oldest has been homeschooled since 2nd grade. She had sooo many struggles starting in upper elementary due to undiagnosed ADHD. When we finally figured out what was going on and made some changes, she did much better, but still had a lot of catching up to do. We took an extra year of middle school to help with that, so she's about to graduate at 19.
Math has always been a massive struggle for her, and we've taken it really slowly to help her get all the concepts. We weren't even sure if college would be an option, and a lot of that would depend on her ACT scores. We finally got her ADHD accommodations for the ACT late last year (which is a whole massive process for homeschoolers because they require a LOT more documentation for us), and she's taken it a few times.
Last time, she got a 28, which is the minimum she needed to get the highest TOPS award for homeschoolers (Louisiana merit grants, and homeschoolers have to score higher than public schoolers to qualify). Between that and the merit scholarship her chosen university has offered her, she has a full ride + some left over for books and art supplies (she's going into animation).
We're so proud of her, and even better, she's proud of herself, which is something we didn't see for a long time.
