Modge Podge Question

I was wondering if any of you had any advice for me on using modge podge. I made some super duper cute frames a couple years ago using a plain wood frame, and then I distressed it, stained it, and modge podged it. I was going to do this again using some papers from a digi kit, however, when I printed off the paper and applied modge podge to it, it made the colors run. Have any of you have this problem with paper you printed from your home computer? Any suggestions? Maybe its just not going to work with my printer??
This is a photo of the 3 frames I made (just so you get an idea of what I was talking about)

oops I did not mean to post this twice! My computer was acting up and I didn't know I posted the first one with the HUGE pic. Sorry

You know, a similar thing happened to me when I made some Boo blocks last Halloween with printed at home papers... I also have problems with the 'tackiness' of my finished products after Mod Podge. Subscribing to hear if anyone has some suggestions! :)

I'm guessing your problem is that you have an inkjet printer vs a laser printer. You can try letting the ink dry on your paper for a few days before applying the modge podge, but there is no way of telling if it might run until you try. Your other option is to have your projects printed by someone with a laser printer or you can send them to a local printer (like Kinkos, Office Depot, etc) if to be sure.

As for tackiness....you might have put on the layers too thick or didn't let the layers dry enough in between. Also, if you live somewhere where it's humid that can do it too. You can try a spray sealer to finish your project.

I do have an inkjet printer. I figured that was probably my problem. I will try printing my paper the day before and see if that works. If not, I may just have a good excuse to convince my husband to get a laser printer lol. Thanks!

I spray my papers with a matte acrylic sealer/finisher before I mod podge.

I like this stuff in matte finish

Me, too - an inkjet printer doesn't set the colors like a laser printer does. I have the same problem when I print stamped images to color with my Copic markers . . . the alcohol makes the black ink smear sometimes. Just use a sealer & you should be fine.

I have never had my inks run. I have a Kodak Ink Jet printer and use Printworks double sided matte photo paper for 99% of my projects.
