Hubby's friend's dog had 12 puppies so we decided to take one off his hands. She was following my daughter around so naturally she is the one who went home with us. She's half basset hound and half dalmation and something or another.
She whined every time we tried to put her in the kennel last night so at 2am we gave in and let her sleep in Kassi's bed LOL. She is doing well with the potty training already, and only 6 weeks old! Seems to be a very sweet natured dog like her mom. We hope so anyway. Time to go buy the Dog Whisperer books!

Awww, so cute!

My BIL & SIL adopted a puppy a few months ago and the first night home she wouldn't stop crying & whining either. BIL eventually ended up grabbing his pillow and a blanket and sleeping ON THE FLOOR in the laundry room, next to Sophie, lol!!! He did that for night #2 as well, and she was fine by night 3!

So cute!! When we first got Elvis he was too little to be outside, so we let him stay inside for a few days. He whined and cried the first night and I was up with him all night (OMG, worse than a baby, lmao). The second night, he'd found a stuffed dog that he actually must have thought was one of his brothers/sisters because he took it EVERYWHERE and was fine after that, lol!

Congratulations on your new addition!!

I would strongly recommend not letting the pup sleep in your daughters bed anymore. She'll be just fine on the floor next to her bed, and you'll have less discipline issues in the long run.

awww, so cute! i agree; don't let the pup on the furniture, its hard to un-teach them that. our stupid dog is always laying on our bed and i hate it.

when we got our golden retriever, i thought he was the cutest little pup ever. now, he's a year old and he gets on my nerves! he is a big baby; he's DH's dog, though he says "i got him for you blah blah" whenever DH pays attention to anyone else, hugging, playing with the kids or even if i lay next to him on the bed, there he is trying to nudge his way in between. He's soooo jealous!! it's annoying!! whenever anyone come over he jumps all over them and won't calm down. he's a big dog!! he never listens to me. he'll listen to DH. i wish he was just calmer. i wanted a german shepherd or an alaskan malumute/husky :(

Corey, he'll listen to you if you make him. You just need to discipline him more and be consistent. Dogs are like kids in that way. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

And, a Husky/Mal would be even WORSE. They're twice as high energy as a golden, and they're escape artists.

good to know, thanks! not that i plan on getting another dog. one is enough! i'll have to try harder with him. though my kids don't listen to me either so i dont have much hope, lmao!

To tell you the truth I thought she was the ugliest of the bunch. So ugly it made her cute LOL. She's been a good puppy and my daughter is great with her. Brodo will be happy to know that we are not letting her on the furniture and she is sleeping in her bed- for the most part. The cats are still giving her the stink eye and prefer to stay outside most of the day, but they aren't intimidated and haven't attacked her so that's a good thing. I think they'll be just fine together. :)
Thanks girls!
