Max just finished off the children's Tylenol

I'm really freaked out! He's 2 1/2, and I would *guess* though I can't be sure, that it was probably twice the amount he is supposed to take.

Apparently I forgot to put it up after I gave some to Jack last night, and Max found it. I'm seriously sick over my carelessness.

Online I *thing* that I found said it could cause liver poisoning and that he will start throwing up if he has that. Does anyone know if that is right?! Should I take him to the ER right now or just keep an eye on him?

I'm assuming there's no poison control there to call.. so i'd call the er/nurse/something and see what they say...

I was trying to find the mL that would = an overdose at his age but can't find anything specific enough.. I would *think* that 2 doses wouldn't be extremely bad-- but I don't know a lot about tylenol (we don't use it at all). It does say that treatment within 8 hrs is important in cases of true overdose

OMGosh, Lauren, yes. He's 2 1/2, weighs 32 lbs and I really don't know how much he drank. Maybe 2 or 3 ml.

oh, my goodness, keep up updated. I have no idea, but I think its a good idea to get the recommendation of poison control.

haha.. fyi.. poison control people are B*tchy....
she wouldn't answer me.. seriously.. she argued with me. She was like I don't feel comfortable telling you.. and i said I don't feel comfortable with you not telling me so you should just do so.. ^_^ I tried.. in the end she just said if you're not 100% sure how much he got (cause I didnt know the size of the bottle fyi.. not cause you're not sure.. I said probably 2 doses worth)take him to the ER. and hung up.

who knows 100% how much a kid could have consumed?

geezus.. sorry doll..

I'll take him to the ER then. Thank you SO MUCH for calling for me. Say a prayer he'll be okay. The things I read online are not encouraging.

I think he'll be okay, but I would definitely check that out too! let us know how it goes!!

I'm thinking the same thing...that he's ok if you think it was only 2-3 ml.

They make the stuff so darn sweet and good that the kids LOVE taking it. Mine are both always saying something hurts and they need medicine :glare:

Please let us know if sweet Max is OK Kellie!! thinking of you sweetie!!

You guys are in my thoughts -- I'm sure all will be well. I'm definitely happy to see you're taking him (or are there now) to the ER. Best and safest decision!

Update us when you can and do know that these things happen. Don't be too hard on yourself, you did the right thing by seeking medical help. :hugs:

Glad you're taking him to the ER. (never ignore a possible tylenol overdose)

Saying a prayer for him & you. I hope you don't have to sit too long in the ER and are home soon, safe & sound.

Oh Kellie... I really hope that he is okay! Big HUGS and TONS of prayers!!!

Update us as soon as you can, I'll be thinking about you!!!

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!

He drank probably a third of a 4 oz bottle, which is about oh 7 or 8 doses. :( But the dr said he'd have to drink two FULL bottles to hit a toxic level. That SERIOUSLY was not in any of the information I found online!

I also talked to a dr friend who lives over here, and he said the same thing, so I'm still keeping an eye on the little guy, but he seems to be fine.

And I totally got a wake up call about keeping a better eye on my kids. I can know what they are doing but that doesn't mean that three minutes later they are still doing it!

On that note, I'm off to interact with the wee ones. :)

Ohhh NO Kel! I'm glad Max is OK-My heart was on the floor till I read far enough to see your update-which was too far down the page, FYI!
Love you two!

so glad to hear that it would have had to have been 2 full bottles! I'm sure he'll be just fine <3 <3 (why couldn't chick head said that? sigh)

P.S.
Don't beat yourself up (Which I'm sure you are, cause I know you like that), but just so you know-no one is gonna nominate me for mom of the year anytime soon-as you are well aware.

WHY DOES TYLENOL HAVE TO TASTE SOOOO GOOD?!?!?!

Shouldn't all medicine taste like ass, so the kiddos don't WANT to consume that much of it?! jessica always wants some of her grape medicine.... do we have junkies on our hands?! ;)

glad it sounds like he'll be fine and def. don't beat yourself up over it... we ALL have our "CRAP!" :o moments.

PS. Just to make you giggle.... I had to call Poison Control once on... MYSELF! I had accidentally taken 2 of those crazy 800mg (or whatever they are) tylenols for my back and realized i was only suppose to have 1 (or something) and as soon as i swallowed them i realized they were those high dose ones and FREAKED! I was SO afraid i was gonna need to have my stomach pumped! The lady at poison control LAUGHED at me and said.... you'll probably have an upset stomach, but you'll be fine.

:hugs:

((hugs)) Glad he's okay. And yes WHY does it taste good?! I was sick 2 months ago and all we had at the moment (like 2 am lol) was Owen's bubble gum tylonal and so I took a bit (lol) and oh my holy rotten teeth that was NOTHING but sugary taste, no wonder that's the ONLY one he will take.

So glad to hear he is OK!! (((hugs)))

And now you've reminded me I should probably have that number on my fridge. I've been lucky to never have to call them yet, but you never know!
