Well, what an eventful three days I've had!! I've had a lot of you ask me this because of my status on Facebook, so I'll let everyone know here! LOL
In a nutshell, my oldest DD broke her humorous (upper arm bone/elbow) in three places and was in surgery for four hours yesterday.
She was pulled off a picnic bench on Friday and fell. Her friends thought that she had a dislocated shoulder, so they called the paramedics (and me). When I got there, it was evident that it was NOT a dislocation. She was transported to the ER and they confirmed that it was broken and luckily, they acknowledged that they didn't have the capabilities to fix it here in this little town. So, they Life Flighted her to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
My DH rode with her in the plane and I came home to get some things packed and I drove the three hours to Salt Lake. When I got there, we were informed that she had to have surgery to set her arm. Basically what happened was that she broke the bone directly above the elbow, and then the elbow joint broke in half. She has pins and plates in her arm now to help it heal. But, the bad news is that she probably won't ever be able to extend her arm out straight because this type of injury causes stiffness in the arm.
Anyway, we are now home and she is in a soft cast and is on Perocet for pain and Valium for muscle spasms.
I want to thank you all who have PMd and emailed me asking about her. She is understandably in a lot of pain. Your PMs and emails have meant a lot to me and I appreciate so much all the love and concern that you all have shown.
