Making an alpha from font blog post on digifiles

I have a question about this blog post and was wondering if anyone could help me? Please!

I can get to the step where I changed the gray layer to white and delete my background but I can't get past that step. Using the magic wand and filling my selection with the foreground color isn't working for me. Any idea on what I could be doing incorrectly?

are you clicking letters on the letter layer? not the white expanded layer

Well, this is a screen shot of what I have.

When I do the fill selection (while on layer 1) the fill color is below the letter. When I click the layer that the letters are on and try to fill color I can't. It doesn't give me that option.

Maybe you need to rasterize the text layer first?

you can't fill a text layer until you simplify it. right click on it in the layers palette. hope that helps!

Yup, you need to simplify the test. Right click on the text layer and choose "simplify layer." Then you can mess with it all you want.
