Majorly Bummed

My brand spankin new Pink Laptop that I just got 2 weeks ago is dead. I tried to start it up yesterday and nada. I have to send it back to Dell. I am so disappointed and will never buy from Dell again! I also have a 26" flat screen from them that I've had replaced twice, it went on the fritz again but of course they go back to the original purchase date for the warranty so even tho I'd only had the replacement two months they would not cover it!
 
I've had, so far and knock on wood, no trouble with my Dell. It IS a desk top though. I know others that've had good luck and others with bad luck,like you, with the lappies.
From what I've read in PC Magazine, their laptop service is pretty stinky. I'm so sorry that happened to you :( . I'd be majorly bummed too.
 
Oh that sucks! I would be so upset. I think that is the final straw for me not buying anything from them, I've heard too many bad stories.
 
Oh how sad!!! DH has a Dell laptop that did the same thing (although he'd had it for about 2 years when it happened). I think it was just due to a bad memory card (I think it's a card?). They sent a replacement, but then it would just randomly shut down. He changed where the memory was installed, and that seemed to have fixed the problem. They were pretty quick with sending the replacement memory, though.

Hopefully they get the problem fixed quickly for you. I know if we ever buy another laptop it WON'T be a Dell!!! (I personally used various ThinkPads for years for work and LOVED them all!)
 
My desktops have all been Gateway and I LOVE them. Wonderful and that's what I will continue to buy.
 
:( Oh, that sucks big time! What a downer when you just got it.

Dell is what pushed us from PC to Mac, and we've never looked back. My Dell 10-11 years ago was great, and their service was great back then but, oh, how times have changed. Their CS is appalling and I'll never buy another thing from them. :thumbdown:
 
So sorry to hear that! :( Can't believe they won't cover it.....

I have a pink Dell and (knock on wood) haven't had any problems with it at all, never have with Dells. I hope they can fix it for you properly!
 
That really sucks Pam. :( I have 2 Dell laptops and a Dell desktop. The desktop we've had since 2000 and have never had to call CS for anything! One laptop I've had some problems but it was mostly hardware that needed to be replaced because of my then 1 year old. Now I have a new laptop I got back in March and I've been having problems (different blue screen errors) and a faulty power cord. I used to love Dells, but now I don't know...
 
I have a pink laptop from Dell too and I hate it! It randomly shuts down, takes a lot of time to get going and it just plain annoying! I have had my Dell desktop for over 5 years and it is fine but this piece of junk is horrible. I definitely will never order from them again. Anyway, I understand your frustration and I'm sorry it happened in the first place!!
 
Oh Pam that STINKS!!! I know your pain, the same thing happened when my laptop died within a month of buying it ..mine's an HP though. But I hope they get it fixed and back to you very soon!
 
Oh that really stinks Pam!! I hope that everything gets worked out for you soon!! Such a bummer considering you just got it!! :(
 
What a bummer!! :thumbdown: I'd be so upset.

We have a Dell desktop and 2 laptops and have never had any trouble. Guess we've been lucky!
 
oh, Pam, that totally stinks!

and that is just so wrong about the flat screen. That doesn't make sense at all to me that the warranty goes back to the original flat screen. :thumbdown: You'd think a new warranty would start with the replacement.
 
Pam, I'm so sorry! I had a Dell laptop and it sucked horribly. I needed a laptop to replace it after it died for the 4th time, and I got another Dell, albeit, a much higher model than the piece of crap I had the first time. I've had it since May, and no problems so far, but I bought a 3 year warranty after the disaster with the first one.

I never had trouble with their customer service and getting stuff fixed, only getting someone that spoke clear english was a problem. :blink:

I hope you get it back asap.
 
Awww... I'm so sorry! My DH and I are owners of Dells and haven't really had any big problems. I think the problems I've had are Vistaelated.
 
I hate Dells too - they used to be good but the last 4-5 years not so much - and their customer service, which used to be one of the best around, now reeks too. Unfortunately, my company buys only Dell so I have to put up with constant issues with their computers. I loove my Toshiba laptop, though (the only problems I have with it are all Vistaelated)...
 
Bummer Pam, that really sucks! I'm praying nothing happens with mine, so far my Dell laptop and desktop work fine. Hope you find something that won't be so much trouble.
 
Pam, what a bummer! I thought of you when I saw that the Dell laptop is Today's Special Value on QVC today. I've always owned Gateways with the exception of one Sony Vaio, which I loved just as much. So sorry....
 
Oh Pam - that's horrible to hear!!! things like that make me so angry - when you spend the money for something major and then have nothing but trouble with it!

Hope you get this resolved soon!!
