Luhyoo!

Speech therapy is working! Parker is doing 2 hours a week (with 2 different therapists on 3 separate days) and it is working so well! After 3 months in 1 therapy and 2 months in the other, he's saying many words...started at around 3-5 and now he has probably 20 or more. Because of his ears a lot of it still is muddled...he has 90% end consonant deletion...so sock is "soh" and dog is "doh" because he can't hear the ends of the words. Some of his words are really cute like "kip" for kiss :)

And just now...he said love you for the first time without me prompting him to!

I was telling him not to touch my power cord, and he hit me. I gave him a sad look and told him he should be nice....then he climbed up in my lap, kissed me and said "luhyoo". It totally made my DAY! ♥ Now after his tubes get put in tomorrow we should be able to make even quicker progress and he'll be talking up a storm (like my other 2 lol) in no time I hope!

how awesome Lena!

Madelyn did that with her speech. she got her tubes put in and it was like, 'omgah kid. SHUT UP!' LOL

That's fantastic! That first spontaneous I love you...awww. It took Ben a lot longer to start making progress (1 year of 1 hr/wk with no progress, then a diagnosis of apraxia, a change in approach, and almost a year of 2.5 hours a week with 2 different therapists before he really started talking), but after more than 3 years of therapy he's talking up a storm and is even taking a 6-week therapy break this summer! I can't imagine not having speech therapists in our life, LOL.

I was going to say the same thing! Landon got tubes at 3 years old and had speech delays. Within a couple of days it was amazing the changes he made in his speech! He sees he therapist 2 x's a week. He loves it and he has come so far. But like Laura said........now that he has got it mastered, I can't get him to shut up! LOL

I can't wait for you to see the changes in your DS! It will blow you away!

That is awesome.

Such a great feeling to hear things like that from our kids, without prompts or just out of the blue.

That is GREAT Lena! The program I teach is for speech/language impaired kids and many with hearing issues see HUGE gains in articulation after tubes. Keep us posted- but I'm sure he'll be doing even better in no time. :)
