Looking for favorite recipes without chicken - anyone?

So a few weeks ago, as I was eating I had an anaphylactic reaction. At the time I had no clue as to what, yesterday I had skin testing done. Oh goodness so I'm allergic to tomatoes, peppers, rice, almonds (so he says avoid all tree nuts), and chicken. I also had borderline reactions to soy and milk

So we try not to eat a lot of beef (I have always had high cholesterol since I was a kid just a thing my body does) - we do like fish. But we usually have chicken several times a week (along with rice!) so any favorite dishes that aren't chicken and don't have a tomato sauce?

Do you eat pork?
I"m making pork carnitas in the crock pot for dinner tonight. It's just a pork roast, garlic, oregano, cumin, one onion sliced and the juice of two fresh oranges over top. Then cook all day. I'll saute it in a pan before we eat in olive oil to get it crispy. I serve with tortillas, black beans and salad.

We like spicy foods, so I do a tilapia with Creole seasoning on it cooked in butter (or you can do olive oil). I serve it with steamed green beans, and fresh fruit.

You could do pasta with a pesto sauce or a lemon, olive oil and garlic sauce. Zucchini noodles are really tasty if you want something different. Toss with sauteed shrimp, and a butter, lemon, garlic sauce and some fresh parsley - so good!

For a rice sub you can try the faux rice you make with Cauliflower.

I like cooking with lamb occasionally. Maybe 2-3 time a year. These are good.

Greek meatballs I serve them with flat bread.

Soba noodles are fun when you're weary of regular pasta.

Eden and I make this salmon for lunch because it's so quick and easy. You can substitute the soy sauce with liquid aminos. My kids don't like it but I don't mind it.

This pork tenderloin is a favorite. I actually have one in the oven right now for a get-together, lol!

I make all of these so I can tell you they're really good.

I am trying to think... almost all of my recipes I can think of off the top of my head have one of those ingredients :( I will check my recipe book...

Can you eat turkey? Most chicken dishes you can replace with ground turkey or turkey strips without it being too different. We've done ground turkey tacos and turkey burgers for example.

We also do pork quite a bit. Pork shoulder in the crockpot is one of our faves - a little salt & pepper, let it slow cook for 6-8 hours and it's SO juicy and tender. We use it for tacos, nachos or add barbecue sauce for pulled pork sandwiches.

I would also say to swap out with whatever protein you can eat. Maybe one of your old favorite recipes will become a new favorite with the swap.

For instance, I no longer eat shrimp but a friend used to make this yummy shrimp dip platter for parties. I now make my own and substitute chicken for the shrimp but I could also substitute beef, salmon, etc.

If pork is an option, I've got several good recipes:

Just made this one two nights ago, and it was a hit! Double Crunch Honey Garlic Pork Chops

This one is absolutely delicious! Crock Pot Balsamic Pork Roast

Brown Sugar and Balsamic Glazed Pork Loin

This one calls for a beef roast, but I've made it with pork, and it was just as good:

Mississippi Roast

I've got several yummy and healthy Salmon recipes on my Healthy Eating Pinterest board if you care to take a look:

Good luck! Let us know if you try any of these.

Ah thanks girls! We have tried cauliflower rice a couple times - kids aren't big fans but I am happy to have it. I think couscous is okay, though couldn't find it at the grocery store the other day (think they were just out). We do eat pork - but haven't tried a ton of different recipes so thanks for sharing some of your favorites!

I didn't realize how many things we made had tomatoes in them too. And I am not sure about turkey yet, my allergist said to give myself a few more days back on my allergy meds before I tried it since the proteins in turkey are so close to chicken just in case I were to have a reaction it would hopefully just be minor.

I'm so sorry that can't eat chicken any longer!! Chicken is our main meat in the house--we have it at least 4x's a week! I'm sorry you had such an allergic reaction, but am so thankful you've been able to get some answers as to what caused it. We are currently going through allergy testing with two of our kids and one of them just got an EpiPen last week until we know how severe her allergies are to her. Allergies stink and I'm sorry you are dealing with them!

Oh Wendy I'm so sorry! It is harder with your kids - hugs! My middle son has horrid allergies too -though his are getting some better. When he was little (ha he's 8 now that sounds funny) he had some food allergies - and goodness those were so hard, he had tree nuts and soy and a super severe soy so he could have nothing with it even a trace amount - I never realized how much of EVERYTHING soy was in until then. We carried an epi pen for him for the longest time for those. Now he has an epi pen for his allergy shots (and has had to use it a few times because of reactions to them cause well his little system just seems to react to things like his emotions, either completely fine or hold on to your horses :p ) Good luck with your kids' testing! I hope they can find out what triggers them, it can be a hard adjustment for sure - but we honestly got into the swing of things with Josh after a bit.
