Long Weekend Gas Prices?

Did the price of gas go up for the long weekend where you live? We had a 5 cent hike yesterday (we're paying $1.30/Litre, it was $1.25/Litre on Thursday), but I read an article where "representatives" of the oil and gas industries were saying that it's basically a myth/conspiracy theory by the public that the gas prices go up on long weekends. I dunno...it happens an AWFUL lot.

So, I'm just curious...did it go up there this weekend?

I think it probably has something to do with Gustav as well. Ours had gotten down to 3.46 a gallon but today it was up to 3.64

Maybe, but the same representatives in the article said that bad weather in areas didn't actually affect the price, either (since they get oil from so many places - even the area around me).

hmm, gas prices around here seemed to have gone down. I'm seeing gas for less than $4/gal, which I thought I'd never see again.

ours didn't go up its still 1.34 a litre which is like 5.09 a gallon

Yesterday on the news it said its supposed to be going up to 1.75 a litre which is 6.65 a gallon *pukes*

I'm with Mimi. Ours seem to have gone down. It was $3.69 this past week and today I saw it at the "cheap" station for $3.57. I dunno.

I have no idea how much gas is. I don't even look, if I need it, I'm going to buy it no matter how much it is.

In addition to that, I haven't filled up in a month. LOL

Ours was $4.28/gal today. It's come down a whopping 11 cents in the past month... Then again, we don't have very many roads to drive on...

I haven't checked. The hubby got some yesterday, but I haven't even looked at the receipt...though I should so I could balance my checkbook, huh?! lol! It always goes up on weekends like this though. But yeah, if we need it we have to buy it no matter what the price is. :(

I dont usually fuel up my husband does but I do know whenever there is bad storm heading our way the gas usually does go up. I remember back in '04 that some places were charging almost 4.00 a gallon and that was when gas was below 2 bucks gallon I think. I know it was not over 3.00 at that time

Ours went from 131.9/L to 138.9 on Thursday. They can't tell me that they don't fluctuate the prices due to the long weekends. Guaranteed it will be back down on Tuesday!

what gets me is how it can change in the SAME day!! We can go somewhere in the early morning like 6 or 7 and come home later that afternoon and the same gas station can be 2 or 3 cents higher (or more) then it was in the morning.

I live where gas tends to run a bit cheaper than it does in other areas... It was $3.22 on Thursday and $3.44 yesterday!

Well I just got back from vacation at the beach and it was $.20 more a gallon there so it's hard to tell but Rachael told me it was $3.53 per gallon here at home during last week and when I got home it was $3.59 so I guess it went up a bit.

It's gone up 5 cents a gallon here

I just read that Gustov has caused 75% of the oil production in the Gulf to shut down. Even if we don't get most of our gas from there, world demand is high enough that removing that oil is going to cause a surge in prices.

The holiday combined with Gustav (and now Hannah) will cause a jump in gas prices. The oil companies have evacuated the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, so production is at a standstill. And to make matters worse, this huge storm seems to be taking aim at the LA/TX area, and that is exactly where you do NOT want a storm to hit, since it's basically oil-central.

I hate to think where prices will end up if the area takes another major hit...prices spiked with Katrina and Rita...and with prices so high now anyway, a major hit could make them really soar. One of the forecasters on the Weather Channel made the comment that the US could see $6/gallon gas if a major storm were to hit the Houston area....so hoping that does NOT happen.

I just got gas on friday and paid $3.23 a gallon (had a .20 cent off a gallon thing). I haven't seen if it has gone up here. I sure hope not.
